i am a gaa fan all my life, i'm involved in my club and college, and from meath. now im not going to defend graham gearty for what he done on sunday. i've been at many matches between the two teams and i thinks the abuse he gets from the dublin fans is awful and often very personnal, i've also seen objects thrown at him even on sunday, and nothing said about it. is it me i or is this uncalled for?. i would also like to get peoples opinion on ciaran wheelan again i think he is a good player but in my opinion i feel he started several little rows during the game, and the game in 2005 when he punched nigel crawford in the face and only got booked, i feel his behaving in a very agressive manner in many games not just against meath. the point i am making is that i feel referee wise and media wise the dublin team can do no wrong regarding these issues and are never punished and even when they were punished for the fight in omagh the bans were lifted for no reason. ?????

Its the usual GAA way that bans get lifted. All you gotta do is ask :) At the end of the day, he gets alot of abuse thrown his way as he is one of the biggest names currently in GAA. Look at any big sports name, it happens everywhere. Im not saying he deserves it but it is something that players unfortunately just have to deal with and move on. I didnt actually see anything thrown at him yesterday but if it was then of course its uncalled for. As for Dublin doing no wrong by the media, i really dont think thats the case. Ask the RTE panel. To them we cant do right. And as for refs, well, Geraghty yesterday is example enough. Should have walked but didnt. Should be suspended for the replay but wont be. I think Whelan is a player who has his heart in the game. On matches like this one, he is easily pushed over the edge and can get a bit overly physical but usually doesnt do too much.

well i remember colm parkinson for laois didnt get his ban lifted a few years ago, i cant off the top of my head cant think of a player who gets the same abuse and with regarding other sports their professional and trained how to act towards the public. with regarding the media i didnt mean football wise i mean this aggersive play they constantly get away with, what about whelan before the game even started in2005? that wasnt a slap, they rule says a closed fist???

Well, just watching the Dub Meath game on Setanta now. GG had at least 2 closed fist punches that he got away with and at least 1 other occasion where he looked like he went to punch but missed. Then of course he punched Cosgrove and just got a yellow. Wayne Rooney when against Everton, Patrick Viera when against United, Any current or ex-Rangers player when they play in Ireland all get alot of abuse. Its not exactly rare in sport to get abuse from the crowd.

Theres no doubting his talent hes a class act but..............this isnt the first time Mr Geraghty has got himself caught up in a bit of trouble,is it any wonder the aussies were out to get him?.I wouldnt be suprised if there was a bit of retaliation the next day, seeing some of the replays again last night probably would have riled some of the Dublin players.Maybe this was his plan but honestly i dont think its going to work i think it will make the Dublin players even more determined to get a result next time.

The Disciplinary Committee will have to have seen the video footage tho?

I would certainly hope so Kaimera. If he isnt suspended it will be a complete joke. Altho as far as im aware, even if he is suspended, he can appeal and it probably wont be sorted before the replay so he will play anyway. If he does play it, forget about the abuse he took on Sunday from the crowd, id say he will get a huge amount more on the 17th after the fans have seen the TV footage.

Talk about a one-sided biased argument, aran5. Unfortunately, GG does come in for some abuse from the "scumbag" element of Dublin supporters who probably can't name half the Dublin team in any case (another story for another day).

However, he was sneaky and underhanded on Sunday (Henno sporting a lovely black eye for his troubles) and probably spurred on by the disallowed goal but for you to bring up old wounds about Ciarán Whelan is just pure nit picking. If anything, Meath's tactics were heavy handed and that doesn't surprise when the team is under the stewardship of a former tough-man Royal like Colm Coyle. Even O'Rourke stated that Dublin played the game in good spirit and I can honestly hand on heart state that more Meath players were doing the antagonising.

Anyway, let's hope for more of the same passion (if fairly poor standard football) in the replay and may the best team win.

May they also be wearing Blue and Navy.

    UP THE DUBS!

Now Graham Geragthy was never an angel. It wasn't like yesterday was the first day he got abuse from the crowd. There is also a reason he gets the abuse he does. He has a reputation that he has earned over years by doing alot of sneaky things in matches; little elbows in the ribs, constantly pulling and dragging when the ref is not looking etc. The reason people don't like him is that he's very good at it and rarely gets caught by the ref. Hopefully he will this time.
As for Ciaran Whelan well he does something outrageously stupid at least once a year, it was Nigel Crawford in 05, it was Ronan McGarrity last year. His problem is that he is way to easily frustrated and then loses his head and lashes out. It stupid and he shouldn't do it. What annoys me about him is the support he then get from Dubs fans and the media basically saying he's a great player and that he didn't mean it. Bullsh1t on both counts, he means it and he ain't a great player (a good player, possibly a very good player). If he was a great player he'd play for the 80 mins and he wouldn't get involved in the type of carry on

As a bit of an aside, wtf is that about with Dublin marching up to the hill prior to throw in. Do they actually realise how stupid they look? And it obviously does sfa for them.

I thought that was a little bizarre too. It sort of reminded me of last year when Mayo un-nerved them in the All-Ireland semi-final when they went down in front of the hill.

IMO it showed that Dublin were a lot more worried about Meath that they would have liked to admit, and needed some sort of assurance from the supporters on the hill.

They acknowledge their fans for turning out and supporting them they stand together for the national anthem i dont see anything stupid about that

I heard on the radio that the Dublin-Meath Replay tickets go on sale tomorrow (Wednesday).

Despite a look at gaa.ie and hill16.ie, I don't see any info (except Ticketmaster saying they aren't available yet through that route - surprise, surprise).

So what's the story? Is it public sale at Parnell Park again from 9am or 10am?

Would appreciate answers. Hup the Dubs.

I wonder if the DCB will request the stand alone again :D:D:D

I'd imagine they will go on sale by Thursday or Friday on general sale.Clubs should have them by Thursday at the latest.
