[Eve] Macromining - no wonder there are loads of people doing it

My two accounts are on sabattical while training BC5 & CS5 and I was bored so I decided to create a trial account. I made a character for doing lvl 1 missions (Caldari, because I havent really played them) and some dude said there is no money in lvl 1's or even 2's. He told me to set up a macromining char .... so I thought, never did it before, trial account - nothing to lose

One Caldari Deteis later and I have a char with mining 5/refining 5 out of the box. A little bit of training and I am in a Bantam with 2 x miner 2's and 2 x expanded cargo holds. Then I downloaded a macro program and in 5 minutes my little macrominer was ready to go... A bit of fiddling with overview settings and game settings and off he went....

The macro involved undocking, flying to a SS, flying from there to a well stocked belt, mining for 2 cycles (356m3 full) and then back to station and emptying ore into hangar ... and of course the same thing over and over..

I checked back 6 hours later and there was a nice bit of ore, so I refined and sold it ..... just short of 2 mil isk :eek: . Remember, this was a character I created during my lunch today. I plan on training him for an osprey and up to caldari cruiser 4 and also veld and scord processing up to 4. We'll see how much can be made macroing on a trial account. I wont be mining 6 hours ever day, but I will try to keep tabs on it.... All proceeds will be left in a can outside a noob station....

PRO TIP: CCP can tell when your mouse makes the same repetitive moves in game, and can also see your IP and match it to your other accounts.

No problem, was not planning on going into details .... this is purely a test to see if it was possible to make a self sustaining macromining char. I will not continue past the 14 day trial, to be honest i dont need the money ... its just you hear macrominers are killing the game and macrominers will die in a fire etc etc .... and I wanted to see for myself what the attraction is

I dont know if thats you being gullible or you spreading disinformation to stop people from considering what you think is harmful behaviour from going on in the game you play. I think CCP figuring out that I am using a macro because of repetitive clicks and keystrokes is HIGHLY unlikely.... I wont rule it out but I have never in 3.5 years of playing heard this happening before. And my IP is dynamic, and just to be careful I am using a new installation of EVE.

Now I am at a very very low level in this, but I have seen 6 hulks with suspiciously similar names (all 5 letter long and beginning with the letters N and P) undocking from the station at the same time as me once... pretty stupid really, they all bumped each other for at least 40 seconds before they started aligning for a couple of belts .... They were all in the same noob corp as me. Luckily they did not come to my belt because 6 hulks would hoover that up in an hour or two.

Well yes, but I think its not the amount, but being afk that makes so good .... out walking the dog and making isk etc ... something for nothing is what makes this so popular .... when you get up to the level of the hulk macrominers they are self sustaining and turning over a massive monthly profit just by having two programs running on their pc 23 hours a day. That could sustain a modest pvp habit no problems (providing you werent losing too many ships) ...

But we all know the isk isnt going into pvp, its being sold on websites and on ebay etc etc and RL money is finding its way into peoples hands, and it is very likely you would not like to see your money in some of those hands

But as I said earlier, this is an experiment, i wanted to find out what it takes to get a character selfsustaining macro mining, and could it be done for absolutely nothing at all i.e. starting with a free account and trying to get enough for a GTC to keep it going (but not actually buying the GTC, just seeing if i could get there)
