Fence painting

Hi all We want to paint our garden fence. Obviously a bit tricky as it is half ours half the neighbours. Dunno whether to paint just our panels, although imagine it will only look stripey. We have neighbours each side and one behind. Anyone come across any probs with this?

Well we just painted our side of the fence. We were just lucky that our neighbours followed suit shortly afterwards, so both sides of the fence were treated
