Airsoft, what is it all about?

I am not trying to be a smart ass, but can someone please explain to me what airsoft is all about?

Some of these toys look very real, I know they shoot something, what is it?

Can they be used to shoot at paper targets? If so at what range and how accurate are they?

What do people generally do with these toys, decorate rooms, or just collect them?

    Thanks!

I think that quite possibly has to be the most concise & perfect answer ever.

    1. Paper Targets.
Yes, and targets of the human form as well, so long as you have their permission.

    2. Range.
    About 150 feet or thereabouts.

    3. Accuracy.
Depends on the airsoft gun and how windy it is, but typically they're accurate to within a few inches at 50 feet.

    4. What we do with them.
Collect, decorate rooms & the stuff you seen in the video.

Any other questions, feel free to ask. We don't bite (we might shoot you though ;) )

Erm... I quite like the cut of your jibe, but there's nothing precluding multi-tasking. Or is that multi-leisuring?

(PCs, Home Theater and other electronic gadgets & gizmos FTW!) :D

@ OP - think of it as another form of exercising and in/outdoors leisurly pursuits ;)

Thank you. Good reply! I never knew it could be such fun!! I have to give it a go. I like the idea of shooting people and not getting locked up for it!!!

This is what I do (but not as well!), but as you can imagine it requires more safety awarness!! Where in lenister can you do this??

www.hrta.ie is the only location in the Republic that you can play airsoft. A few of us from this forum go most weekends, keep an eye on this thread to see who's going when:

Also check out the forum at www.irishairsoftassociation.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=6

ps. I had a look at the video you posted! It so happens that some people are trying to organise a practical airsoft event! :D

Where in Lenister can you do real practical pistol or airsoft practical pistol?
There are a few practical pistol shooters over in the shooting forum. I'm sure they could help you out.

As Dave said, we're looking to get some practical airsoft going. Should be interesting.

Well, as long as you kept the AEG on semi automatic I couldn't see a problem.

Would be more fun with a pistol though ;)
