Oh my, so much happened this episode. Loved the way the guy on the bike gets run over just to add to the carnage.

And part of me just 'knew' that was going to happen....the motley crowd of onlookers from the Bing were funny too.

    When did Tony
get that assault rifle? That final scene was quite haunting.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,993 ✭✭✭Johnny Storm

Bobby gave it to him for his birthday. Remember they used it in the woods near Bobby's summer home?

    Agreed.

The mock boxing between Tony and Sil in the restaurant was a brilliant scene,
given what they had met to discuss. Up with the best in any of the seriesss.

I was sorry to see Bobby go. imagine his kids having to grow up with Janice.

    Indeed.

So any theories as to what might happen? I have a feeling that either Carmela, AJ or Meadow may die. In this episode Tony said that the families are never touched, but can he really be believed? The best candidate would be Meadow, who he and Carm have pinned all their hopes on. I guess next week will be bloody too.

yeah i agree protocol suggests that there is no honor in killing family during a mafia war but Phils head isnt all there. He is still peed off that he was not the one to kill Tony B.

Great episode. I'm really going to miss this show! Has anyone heard or read anything about the duration of the final episode next Sunday? Is it going to be a regular 50 minutes or a double-length?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,931 ✭✭✭dubmick

61 minutes as per HBO's listings

Could be, but IMHO, from a dramatic point of view, Tony has to go. Anything else is a cop-out.
Although it may well be left open for future mini-series, once-offs etc as a pension plan for all concerned with the show.
Anyway, whatever happens, I'm counting on it to be deeply twisted.:D

i really wish this show didnt have to end, IMO there has never been a single bad episode and some truely great ones (like this one). As far as Godfather esque for me it was what happened to Bobby. Imight be wrong but was the mock fighting with Sil and Tony not Raging Bull, atleast thats where i thought the music being played in the restaurant was from (hense the boxing).

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 17,163 ✭✭✭✭Boston

I don't think tony will go, it hasn't been building towards that. I will say one thing though, if he does go, with that assault rifle it's going to resemble he end scene from scarface.

    Theory !

I honestly think that Paulie is going to hit Tony. He's close to him, Tony doesn't really trust him and he wasnt on Phil's hitlist and in fairness Paulie is higher up the food chain than Bobby was ...

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 22,955 Mod ✭✭✭✭Bounty Hunter

Paulie is the definition of old school IMO that will not happen, though it would be smart if im honest.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,573 ✭✭✭✭Snake Plisken

Great episode, I wouldn't rule out Paulie offing Tony as remember when Tony got shot and was in a coma he was moaning about giving Carmilla the money packets. Also families could be on the line as when the two italians killed the wrong guy they also killed the woman with him, which would say to Phil that families were not off limits in this war. Great scene Tony and Sil boxing to the Raging Bull music.

    Snake ;)
P.S. I know why Tony couldn't find Phily he was in Ireland filming those FXcking Permanent TSB Ads :)

The actor who plays Phil was on Opie & Anthony(big radio show in the US) and they asked him if there was any plans for a movie, he said he heard there might be but that it might be a prequel, so maybe that means Tony dies in the last episode

And also, i just checked out www.boards.tv and theres no sopranos sub forum  stupid

Also whats with some TV shows being put in the Sci Fi/Fantasy forum, jesus boards mods really do like to complicate ****

I think I am right mate, check the HBO site, Blue Comet is listed with a running time of 50 minutes and Made in America is listed as 61 minutes.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 804 ✭✭✭doubledown

And don't forget that The Sopranos runs on HBO with no commercials, so 61 minutes MEANS 61 minutes.

oh right, i taught they were all around 50 minutes, you win :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,345 ✭✭✭✭Dodge

They are all around 50 minutes, except for this; the series finale

Nice theory on Paulie. It would certainly make sense (with all of Paulie's recent appearances)

As for "family won't be touched" I don't think Phil will care about that after what Tony Blundetto did

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,573 ✭✭✭✭Snake Plisken

Yeah Paulie wasn't too happy about the lack of Captains at his ma's funeral. I bet u Tony is sorry he off'ed Chrissy now, he could do with the help he can get now.

we all have friendly American cousins ;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,993 ✭✭✭Johnny Storm

I read on A.N.Other forum that Chase wanted this ep we just saw to be the last one.
IE that the series would end with
everything up in the air and T sitting in the dark clutching his assault rifle
    .
I have no idea if that is true but it would have made a pretty good end IMHO. In fact, if I dont like the next ep I will pretend to myself that that was the last ep;)
Useless fact 2: The last ep is called "made in America", apparently that was what Chase originally wanted to call the whole series before they decided on Sopranos.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,119 ✭✭✭Volvagia

that was an incredible episode, it just got better and better. I have to say I enjoyed seeing Tony knock some sense into aj when he started crying again!

    hurry up next week!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,296 ✭✭✭valor

Theres no way Paulie turns on Tony

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,192 ✭✭✭TarfHead

Also families could be on the line as when the two italians killed the wrong guy they also killed the woman with him, which would say to Phil that families were not off limits in this war. Great scene Tony and Sil boxing to the Raging Bull music.

The Italians thought they were clipping Phil and his goomah - family wasn't a consideration - they assumed Daddy was her pet name for him.

Was it just me or did anyone else hope Furio was going to return when Tony mentioned getting help from Italy ? That could have set it off on a different tangent entirely !
Great scene Tony and Sil boxing to the Raging Bull music.

I agree - I don't recall that sort of referencing since Series 1 and Sil & his 'Al Pacino in G3' impressions.

Yeah I was thinking the same now he was a hitman, and it would have opened up the Carmella thing again.
