the nuculuer bomb going off in la sumed the season up for me:events that were ment to shock but really were quite predictibal, and cruitises death was donw awfully

There hasn't been any steamy romantic scences either...no REAL love story's since Terry/Jack and Tony/Michelle (Bring back Tony and Michelle, ah bless, they were so romantic!)

This season has been OK, but nothing better than that.

It took a big dive down when it re-introduced the Chinese, IMO.

tbh after this season, the only way i can see the show redeeming itself is if a war starts between rusissa and us as a result of the events of tonights eps, but i highly though that will happen

[pedantic mode on]Well, technically '24' won't be off our screens after tonight as RTE are still going to be showing it for a while yet but, yes, I know what you mean all the same![pedantic mode off] ;):D

Have to agree with other people's comments here about this season. Very poor season in my opinion, almost (but not quite) as poor as season 4. The Fayed/nukes storyline wasn't brilliant to begin with (the highlight was probably Jack's showdown with Fayed. '24' at it's best!) but things took an even worse downturn when that was wrapped up and the whole Chinese/Audrey/Daddy Bauer trying to kidnap Josh storyline kicked off. I think Tom Lennox's brilliant line in last weeks episode when he was perving on Lisa Miller and Daniel Jackson (;) :D ) getting it on could have summed up this season......

    "And....." *sigh* ".....finally we're done!"

I have a feeling that unless tonights final two episodes are absolutely spectacular and/or have a massive twist at the end, that line above from Tom will be regarded as the definitive summing up of this entire season.

From things I've read the past few weeks, the writers and producers are promising a totally different angle to '24' next year. After this season, it's going to definitely need it if they want to restore the fans' faith in the show.

Ah well, hopefully my other recent big TV favourite, 'Prison Break', will restore my faith in telly when it starts back tomorrow night! It would want to because I'm f**ked if I'm going to spend my summer watching 'Big Brother'! :D

3* from me. Would have been 4 except that it nosedived when Audrey and the Chinese appeared.

"And....." *sigh* ".....finally we're done!" - couldn't have said it better.

When Day six trudged to a halt last night I was relieved. This was probably 24's worst season.

It had some great moments and started off on a high. The nuclear bomb going off was nicely done as was Jack's breakdown. Who can forget Jack pulling someone from a crashed helicopter on top of an LA building as the city burned? Tom Lennox and the VP proved interesting new characters and the Fayid vs Jack fight was vintage 24. Kiefer acted his superhero socks off too e.g. hour four and the finale's last scene with Heller.

There were some awful moments too. Jack's Dad and brother terrorists? What were they thinking, that was a stretch too far even for 24. I never really bought Wayne Palmer as the new president. He was bald, had a goatee and seemed way too young. America had just elected President Dre.

Everyone involved just seemed to run out of steam early on this year. In this season - more than any - the way the writers only script a couple of episodes in advance was really evident. It was clear the writers had no idea where they were going. The result? A tacked on contrived Chinese storyline to fill the final six episodes. They should have just called it 18 and finished after Fayid.

There was also some lazy ideas rehashed from previous seasons - war with middle eastern country, removing the president, CTU under attack etc etc. Characters were killed just for the sake of it and one of the show's best villains, Logan, was brought back for no particular reason, only to be forgotten about.

I read somewhere that the season started off strong, too strong. I'd agree. After the award winning Day 5, the writers either got complacent or nervous.

Hopefully they can turn things around next year. I'll be watching, from behind the couch.

As a big 24 fan (or maybe that should be FORMER big 24 fan), I would largely concur with the sentiments expressed above. I was very disappointed with the current season - for me, it was the worst of all the seasons. Am I the only one who thought Season 4 was ok?

This season had too many rehashed storylines, but I was bewildered when Fayed was killed and then the plot proceeded to go in a new direction with the Chinese/Audrey Raines angle.

The best new character to emerge was Tom Lennox, played by Peter McNicholl. Eventually, I managed to stop thinking of the guy he played in Ally McBeal ... very offputting initially!

I was so relieved that Sky decided to put us out of our miseries by doing a double-bill, resulting in the final hour been shown a week earlier than it would have otherwise. Phew! Such a relief when it finished! By the way, Jack going out into the sunset (if he didn't jump to his death) was ok by me.
