    Brazilian jiu-jitsu phenomenon and multi-time Abu Dhabi champion Marcelo Garcia has been announced as the newest acquisition of promoters Fight Entertainment Group, which hosts Saturday's K-1 "Dynamite!! USA" event at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.

    A longtime crowd favorite on the grappling circuit, Garcia will make his mixed martial arts [debut] on September 17 in Japan. No opponent has been named for Garcia yet; while the Brazilian, who grapples at 170 pounds, has not decided if he will fight down at 155-161 pounds or up at 183 pounds per K-1’s currently utilized weight divisions."

    Don't know how Marcelo's game fits to MMA. It's safe bet to say that if he can bring fight to ground he can have ANYONE in trouble. Will be interesting to see. Propably best p2p grappler in the world in MMA.

    he was supposed to make his debut a while back but bowed out because he felt he wasn't ready to make the transition from the mat to the cage.

    Yep. And wanted to concentrate on ADCC this year. Actually Gracie fighting championship according to him had put his name on their card without asking him. But i guess money paychecks on MMA are so much better that he will give it a try. Jacare seems to be good in MMA but his game is much more aggressive and physical than Garcia and i think much better takedowns too.
