    Hi,

I have just returned from a holiday in the states, and was wondering if it is possible to claim back the sales tax on some large purchases I made while there?

    Any info welcome!

I do not think so.. its not like our VAT system.. its not a national tax its a local state tax. Its also feck all.. 3 - 5% depending on the state.
There is also the fact you are only technically able to bring back a certain value in goods. And eh if you contact revenue you will OWE them money.

    Do not bother.

If you are making large purchases, there are plenty of states and cities that have no sales tax at all. Even the ones that do, it is laughable compared to the VAT you'd pay at home.

Canada has abolished sales tax refunds since April 1, 2007
