I always found the Isle of Mann to be a very clean place. Nice people you wont find much trouble there. Accomidation is quite cheap by our standards. Make sure to check out the Steam Railway. Laxy wheel. The island is worth a visit. Check out the Manx goverment website http://www.gov.im/tourism/ for more info.

I would take the boat if I were you. You can get a fare for around 50 euro. The sailings are limited but go directly to Douglas. You could take a flight there is a coulpe of flights a day for around 100 euro return. Both are good ways to go.

Going there for a wedding in July and the accommodation is far from cheap. I'd say it's on a par with Ireland if not more expensive. Supply is limited also which can mean it's not easy to get exactly what you want. Yes - I'm going high season but I started looking back in January and even back then it was tricky. Not well catered for online either.

Having said all that we're looking forward to going and we finally got what we needed. Getting the ferry over as we need the car but flights are cheap also.

You must be staying in the Hilton where the rooms cost £100 per night. Guest houses and B&B's are all along the promanade and cost from £20 per person per night. I am going over at the end of July and we are paying £25 per person which I think is quite cheap.

For details on accomindation in Douglas:

I'm curious about going over myself. Looking for somewhere to take a quiet break from work.

But are there loads of Dublin/Liverpool/Belfast/Glasgow people over on the piss?
