I've noticed, and Wednesday was a good example, that it is often a brilliant sunny morning at 5:30am with only 1-2% cloud, but by 9:00am it is overcast. Why does this happen?

Moist air and a very strong sun at this time of year with lowish pressure, its only three weeks to the longest day after all.
Conversely if there was a moist air stream over us and the pressure was high, it would start off cloudy but by late morning this would be breaking up due to the power of the sun raising the dew point and the settling air killing the clouds.
