For someone who very rarely travels to Dublin, does anyone know what journey time should be allowed for travelling from where the city-bound traffic congestion starts on the M1 to Lower Abbey Street on a Thursday,Friday or Saturday to be there for 7.45PM? Thanks in advance.

It shouldn't be that bad at that hour, probably under 30 minutes from the M50 to the city centre + a few minutes for parking and a few minutes spare.

Best parking is more or less across the street in the Ilac centre. Drumcondra - Dorset Street - Gardiner Street - Talbot Street - Abbey Street. http://www.dublintraffic.com/carparks.htm

Note there are new(ish) turn restrictions in the city centre. See here: http://www.dublincity.ie/Images/Directional%20Signage%20Scheme_tcm35-11109.pdf

Alternatively get a train to Connolly or Tara Street.

Victor, I'd allow one hour in total to travel in.

I think Victor means the Irish Life Centre, not the Ilac.

It really shouldn't take any longer than 15 minutes to travel from the M1/M50 junction to Abbey Street at that time of the day.

Straight run into town, don't forget the bus lanes close at 7pm on that route. Jesus it only takes max 25 minutes during rush hour in the morning.

Ooops, yes. I'm always confusing the two.

I got the express bus from the Airport last night around that time and it was in the city in just over 20 minutes so including parking you should be fine with 30mns.
