Is there an easy way to tell a program (like desktop manager) to open at startup?

please forgive my ignorance , i am not been smart here and i can understand why you asked the question, but i can't help but wonder why anyone would want to do this as the system is quick enough anyway. everything is so easy to find and click and load up quickly. Now in windows it is not as quick, i feel awful slow on a windows computer, wondering where something is and wondering if i can remember how to find it and open it.

Anyway sorry about this little rant, not really looking for a reply. just typing whats on my mind.
