A friend is interested in buying this camera and asked for my opinion.
I don't really have one, except that, there are more established brands, competing in that price range.

Has anyone here got any experience of the GX-10, that they'd like to share?

Regards and thank you in advance,
    Peadar

I have the GX1s, which is the 6.1 megapixel version. The GX10 is the update.

It's basically a Pentax K100d in a Samsung shell (open to correction on that), and takes Pentax K and KAF lenses. Very easy to use. My only gripe would be that the selection of lenses/accessories available for it (or the Pentax version). It would seem that your options are greatly expanded by buying a Canon/Nikon/Minolta.

Still though, if you're on a budget and just want to get started with a DSLR, you could do worse for your money! I got my GS1x with two lenses for about the same money as an Eos 400d body only. As kit lenses go, they're not bad.

The GX10 is a Samsung branded version of the Pentax K10d (not K100d - sorry mike). It's essentially identical to the Pentax apart from some very minor software & body differences.

The K10d is very good value for money as is, and if you can get the GX10 for less I'd strongly recommend it. I have the K100d and am very happy with it.

It can be more difficult to find Pentax lenses / accessories locally - but shop online and there's no problem. The K100d / K10d / GX10 all have in body image stabilisation - compare the prices of Canon / Nikon IS lenses to see the savings. Also, they're all fully backward compatible with every lens ever made for the Pentax K mount.
All things considered, the Pentax K10D is an excellent midrange digital SLR. It offers a solid, well-designed body, rocket-fast performance, and superb photo quality if you get away from the default settings. It may not be a great choice for those used to live-view and scene modes, but if you're ready to dive into more serious photography, the K10D is a great choice. It earns my highest recommendation.

The GX-10 is a superb camera. Probably the best value camera on the market at this time. Weatherproofed, image stabilised and well equipped.

This is essentially a Pentax K10D clone. And that's good news. Pentax lenses, particularly the limited pancake lenses, are optically superb with supersonic weatherproofed lenses on the horizon. In addition the 18-55mm kit lens is considered the best kit lens on the market (either in it's Pentax or Samsung Schneider form)

I can vouch for the quality of this camera having used it in much of my work at,
