PS3 firmware to play ps2 games?

    I have done the search couldnt find anything before ye start.....apologies if its been done a zillion times.

    Anyone got details on how i get the ps3 to play the ps2 games, currently its saying i need to download some firmware for this?

    You need to get the firmware update when you go online with your PS3. Even then only a handful of games work on the PS3 at the moment. Sony will release more firmware updates later on.

    anyway were can one get this list of games that already work with the firmware

    Over 1,200 PS2 games are supposed to work with it, and virtually all PS1 games. A handful?

    GTA vice stories did'nt wrk for but 1.70 firmware fixed that. Hope tombraider works on it, dion't want to dig out the PS2.

    connect it up to the internet and it should tell you there is a system update available , scroll to the left on the main page to the system update icon just click this it will do the rest itself .

    Most PS2 games now work and they have been upscaled and smothed so they fit the full screen and look miles better than the ps2 version .

    Great thanks, havent connected the PS3 to internet yet( as i dont own it but im being asked to do it) so wasnt sure if their was an system update option, so quite simply i connect the broadband lead up to the ps3, click system update and thats it?

    more or less , you may have to go into internet settings and auto find the internet etc , i had to but im on a wireless network at home .

    If you dont have to internet yet im sure it can be downloaded onto a pc in say your mates house then burnt to disk and installed that way , im not sure but a google should let you know !!
