More iTunes CD burning problems

I posted this a while back about issues I was having burning CDs on iTunes.

Since then I've upgraded iTunes to 7.2, flashed my CDRW with some new firmware and tried to find some drivers (but couldn't).

I also uninstalled/reinstalled Nero to make sure it wasn't in conflict with iTunes and uninstalled/reinstalled iTunes 7.2 to make sure it was all working OK (I did a repair on it then, just in case!)

Anyway - now the problem has changed - the burning is no longer freezing and aborting, it's not starting at all... whenever I click "burn disc" I get told "disc burner or software not found". The odd thing is that the drive shows up under the burning tab in the preferences and I can read discs from it through iTunes - so it's interacting fine otherwise.

Also, Nero has no issues burning discs, as always.

Anyone know what I need to do to "force" iTunes to reconise the drive properly and even attempt to use it as a burner? I'm not sure what software it's referring to either - iTunes is the software I'd use to burn, isn't it?

I'm having the exact same problem, and have yet to find a solution :(

Tried reinstalling the drive, reinstalling iTunes, upgrading to the latest version, upgrading my motherboards IDE drivers, and no joy. Like you, iTunes shows the drive fine under the burning preferences, but when I run a diagnostic it says the drive is incompatible. But it always worked fine with older versions.
