Did anyone hear someone text in Gerry Ryan this morning says he or she was on a bus travelling in by Heuston Station and saw some guy get out of his car with a hatchet and hit some bloke over the head with it. And said everyone else on the bus was shocked.

Gerry Ryan was going nuts - "if you witnessed it, give us a call!"

Kept listening for about an hour - no-one called!

Maybe it never actually happened, I've wondered in the past how easy it might be to phone in about some incident and build it up with the help of a few mates into some sort of 'emergency'. A sort of zero-budget CBS radio War of the Worlds type situation.

    Mike.

That's what i thought too. But it actually it did happen.. a woman phoned in Gerry Ryan this morning to talk about it. The Gardai had the area cordoned off investigating it yesterday!

This reminds me of the time I was coming home on a bus and spotted two guys squaring up to each other on the street...

As the bus passed I saw one guy walk away, the other guy pick up a rock and throw it, and the rock head right for the back of the blokes head. The whole thing went out of view after that, so I don't know if your man did get a slap of the brick or not.

It was one of those WTF? moments because everything happened within the space of a few seconds, it happened in a decent enough area (wasn't dodge-ville) and it was rush out, broad daylight with plenty of people around.

I didn't ring Gerry Ryan, though.
