OK I just got y new Nikon D80 with MB-D80 grip. so far very impressed. My D70 acts as my back up and come November i get my new D2xs so i can sell the D70 and have the D80 as backup.

    Life is indeed good:D

sorry i just needed to tell someone, the wife so not impressed:o

I have a D70, and am thinking about upgrading to either the D80 or the D200.
What are the most noticable differences (apart from the screen) between the D70 and D80?

i have to say my first thoughts out of the box was
    1) a little lighter and smaller
    2) bigger screen
    3) postion of the buttons has a slight change.
    4) i was not that impresseds thruth be told

When i fired it up however:-
    1) the bigger screen has so much more information and clarity
    2) bigger view finder.
    3) the 11 point focus system really makes a big difference
    4) i slaped on the grip then the SB600 flash, 18-70mm kit lens from the D70. I had and set to manual. Took a shot of my boy in low light with the Flash on TTL metering. and WOW was my first word!!! Such a massive difference from the D70 to the D80 and i am very impressed.

I am glad i did not go for the D200 yet as this means i get the D2xs sooner than if i got the D200. no

If you do get one get the Grip MB-D80 this makes a big difference to the size and it feels better to hold, plus it holds two batteries for longer life. The grip also takes 4 AA batteries in a small tray if needed.
    I have a 2 gb card but will get a 4gb soon.
2gb on Raw takes 165 shots.
but i would not fill that as i take and review quite often and have a 1gb as backup.
    4gb defo needed though.

Other than that i will have a proper play over the weekdn as i am on achill island and hope to get a couple of very early shots on the rocks. my expectations are very high so i hope i am not let down

I have the D80 and the SB-800 flash myself, and even after a few months the exposure from any lens with the flash makes me smile sometimes... It's just always right!
