Adding external usb drive problem

Guys I stuck a 250gb Samsung SP2514N into an external usb case and connected it to the pc, the pc picked up the usb connection but the drive wasn't visible in My Computer. So I opened Computer Management - Storage - Disk Management, the drive was visible as Disk1 but only 31.49gb and not around the 232gb mark, after I finished partitioning it it was visible in my computer but still at 31.49gb drive. Any suggestions as to where the other 200gbs went, I don't know a lot about partitioning drives tbh.

    Thanks

most likely you need to do a bios update on the board. whats the specs of the pc?

What size does it appear to be in disk management?
What size partition could you create?
What file system did you use when formatting?
    More info please!! :D

Check the jumper settings on the drive. You might have set it to limit the size to 32GB

Come to think of it - I think Pacifico is right, I've seen that with an internal drive.

Thanks guys, I think Pacifico hit the nail on the head.

Its appears as 32gb in disk management, the maximum partition I was able to make was 32gb.

I have another one of this exact drive in an external case for over a year now without any problems, so I was a bit baffled.

Thanks Pacifico. I bought this drive the same day as the other one, so I can't understand why the jumper was set to 32gb on this one and not the other one too.
