Installing windows, sata drivers? Pavilion dv2000

Heya, I've got a HP Pavilion dv2000 here which had vista on it.
Of course Vista is a pile of crap (compatability issues with everything) so I wiped the drive and booted up my xp pro disk to install xp on it.
Problem is that it doesn't see any hard drive installed[1].

It seems to be a SATA thing, as the drive is SATA and probably needs drivers to get going. But the laptop has no floppy drive... :)
    This could be a problem...

Anyone else had similar issues or have any solution? Googled the heck out of it and still no result.

[1] partition magic boot disk and more can see the drive if I boot through those, so the HDD is installed and fine.

Mucho thanks if anybody knows anything
