The Wire also from HBO is the best US drama on tv

The 4th series of The Wire is on TG4 on monday nights

I watched the first 3 series on dvd back to back

if you want to know why the USA's crime, social, school and political is more sleazy than a banana republic, please watch The Wire

The DVDs of the first 2 series are on sale at a reduced price

First series is about the cops trying to find ways to fight the street corners drug dealers

2nd series is about the corrupt sea ports trade unionists

3rd series is about political inteference, crime statistics

4th series is about the Us's failed education system

5th series out next year here is about the media

I would rather 13 episodes of quality programming to 20 odd episodes of padded bull****.

The fifth season will apparently deal with (theme spoilers):
    the role of the media
, something DS has an interest in.

2nd last episode of the 4th series of The Wire was very good, it was very tragic, emotional, sad, violent and very touching it shows the American system is a complete mess with their Social, Education, Law Enforcement are a disgrace

final episode of the 4th series is on this monday on TG4, as I don't subscribe to the FX, TG4 I give you thanks except for the late times it has been shown between 11.30pm to 12.30pm, it should be shown from 10pm

I heard a lot about this show but never saw any eps, I'm gonna have a look out for it. I take it from the first post that it's not necssary to watch each season in order from 1-4? or is it?

No, watch them in order. There's ongoing plots throughout all four seasons. Watching them out of order is a Very Bad Idea.

The final episode was very chilling, very tragic, violent and great storytelling.

in the 4th series it showed a how a urban child turned in the main man on the drug street corners

well played to TG4 for showing it but their times for showing was a disgrace from 11.25 to 1.30 am, FX showed it at 10pm why couldn't it show it at that time and I don't subscribe to subscription tv

The Wire is more real than the sopronos as the writers have experienced America's bad crime, social, education policies

Watch it from the start on DVD and next year you should be able to watch the 5th and final series once again on TG4 fta or on FX on subscription

That was one hell of a heartbreaking ending. One of the best pieces of tv I've seen probably only better by the previous season of the Wire.

I actually thought season 4 was the best season so far. But definatly the best show on TV if not the best show ever made!

Upping this because people need to watch this programme. It is easily the best show I have ever seen on the TV.

Get down to HMV or wherever and get the first series and then the second and third. Its just incredible.

seasons 1 and 2 are 27.99 each on play.com. well worth the cash for this amazing show. you might spend up to 70euro on HBO box sets in shops like HMV!
