Removing Vista from Dual Boot?

How can I remove the vista bootloader from a dual boot system? I've seen a few different ways of doing it but not one that seems to be generally accepted and there seems to be disagreement among the different ways to remove it.

    Anyone tried the method below?

Reboot and Boot to your XP CD-ROM
    Start the Recovery Console
    Run Fixboot
Run fixmbr to reset the master boot record
    Exit the Recovery Console
    Reboot

Don't want to make a mess of the XP stuff!

Can you not just goto 'my computer\properites\advanced\startup&recovery'
and change the system startup settings?
