I have just noticed my digital camera makes a really strange sound like a cat's short meow when I take a picture. It might have been dropped when I gave alend of it to a friend. I'm not sure. Anyone any ideas as to what it might be other than a cat spirit after taking over my phone!

Edit : should have said spirit taken over my camera

I take it that its a small point and shoot camera? Do the pictures look okay?
Is the sound getting worse over time? If something is damaged but isn't obscuring the image then I'd imagine that its not a terminal problem just yet.
Keep an eye on it and if it gets worse bring in it for repairs in some electronics shop.

It's a small pentax camera thats only about a year old & it does not get a whole lot of use. Picture is perfect & every thing seems fine, it's just kinda annoying when you take you shot & this little moan escapes from the camera!
I bought it online from pixmania. I must check is it under warranty & what the procedure is for returning for repairs although if my friend dropped it there's prob some small print saying they won't repair it in that instance:(

but if there's no obvious signs of a drop...

Don't wanna point out the obvious, but maybe it's a sound effect it can be set to make? The little camera my sister has makes a noise like a bubble popping, she chose that from a number of options in the camera's menu which defaulted to the standard shutter sound...

true, I think camera phones in Korea are legally obliged to make such a sound.
But does it sound like an audio clip?

Possibly lens scraping as it auto focuses as the shot is taken?
