In the flash-forward in the finale, Jack says "Go up and check if I'm drunker than my father"... but his father is dead...

(Sorry if someone already pointed this out)

It has been mentioned several times in the episode discussion.

    It could be that:

    His Dad is not dead
    or
Jack was just drunk/high (my money is on this one)
    or
The flash forward is subject to change based on individuals actions. i.e Is the flash forward another desmond preminition!

I think he was just being ironic,
and the writers wrote it that way, to make the viewer believe it was a flashback until the final scene.

I'd say this is the most likely scenario.

The amount of people that texted in to Ray Darcy and Ray Foley about that exact point the day after the RTE Finale....It was clearly deliberate, painfully clearly so.

I think it's fairly obvious that there's a secret cloning facility on the island, which grew a clone of Christian from a DNA sample scraped from his coffin, and when they got rescued they just pretended he had never died an he resumed his duties at the hospital.

That's also why Jack is so upset and wants to go back. He's realised he's nuts about Kate and she'll barely talk to him, so he wants to get back to the island to make himself a clone of her.

The person in the coffin is Ben, who was the only one who knew how to operate the cloning machine, which is why Jack was so upset when he died. He needs Kate to back with him as the two of them were present when Christian was cloned, so between them they might be able to work the machine, whereas Jack on his own wouldn't remember enough, especially in his drugged-up state.

Kate will probably agree to return with him and help clone herself, as the alternative is an inreasingly erratic Jack stalking her for the rest of her life.

It's all pretty obvious if you think about it.
