Kidney Donors

Did anyone hear the Gerry Ryan (I know, shame on me) show this morning? Afaik some woman rang in saying that her 20 year old son had kidney failure and was on permanent dialysis.

Fair enough you might say, but then some other woman rings in offering her kidney for a transplant. A complete randomer. Then an avalanche of texts came in saying more or less "yeah, I'll donate my kidney too, I'd give it in the morning" etc.

Is anyone else struck by the ridiculousness of the situation? I'll presume that woman doesn't fully know what the hell is involved in a transplant even on the off chance she matches.

*Beaumont apparantly don't do non related transplants between living patients.

God, yeah. What a world we live in when people have to cheek to actually try to help each other out :D

Seriously though, the callers were trying to help. Fair play to them.

Come on, would you seriously call a phone in radio show and offer your kidney just like that? On the spur of the moment? It just all seemed a bit much to me tbh.

Now I'm all for helping people etc but doing what that woman did is plain madness in my eyes. Fair play if she goes through with it though.

Fcuking right its a bit much. Picture the scene, Pigheads kid has just been born, fantastic looking specimen with a particularly large pecker "Takes after his father I see, whispers the sexy nurse in Pigheads ear".

Anyway alls until he reaches 15 years old, suddenly his kidney gives in. Nurse says he can be saved if Miss Piggy donates a kidney. Hallelujah we all cry. Except for Miss Piggy, whos looking sheepish in the corner.

Miss Piggy: "Eh Pighead, I'm really sorry darling but I've already donated my kidney years ago"

Pighead: But to who, none of your family have ever had kidney problems before have they?

Miss Piggy: Erm no they haven't. Remember that sick day I took back in 2007? Well the telly was on the blink so I stuck on that spanner Gerry Ryan and there was some woman who was looking for a kidney. She wanted one, I had one, it all made sense at the time. Was gonna discuss it with you but I didn't want to disturb you.

Pighead: Nice one. You've just killed my child. We shall never speak again. Off with you now woman before Pighead does something violent and nasty.
