Creative Zen Vision:M - anything better out now?

I have an iRiver ihp-140 but am thinking of upgrading to something newer.

The Creative Zen Vision:M has great reviews, I'd be looking at the 60GB. But it's been out a good 18 months now at least.

Is there anything newer/better out since that I might consider?

    (Don't want Apple)

Disappointingly Creative had nothing new or exciting in their MP3 player range
on their stand at CES in Vegas early this year, a pity as they won best
in show for the Zen Vision M the previous year. Whilst the Zen Vision M
is 18 months+ old at this stage, it doesn't mean it's a bad player. The 60Gb
model is not out that long in EMEA either. Creative have also updated the
model recently and current models are slightly thinner that the original spec
due to the new HDDs used.

I picked one up myself in Vegas early this year and have no regrets with the purchase. (I also upgraded from an Iriver H-140). If you want a good DAP with
video support in a portable and pocket sized device it fit's the bill excellently.
The compatibility with a wide range of video and sound codecs is top-notch.
And providing you have the latest version of Win OS and WMP you can just
drag and drop files. My only gripe is you can't browse by folder on it.

Cheers for that, looks like it's pretty much still the best out there then for the type of DAP I'm looking for. I've heard the 60GB is now the same size as the old 30GB so that'll be good.

Recommendations for cheap places to buy greatly welcomed :D

Advanced MP3 Players in the UK.
They have the 60GB in stock for for just over €300 plus shipping,
should work out at around €325 including shipping.

Amazon UK are a tad cheaper but will not ship to ireland, my advice would be to mail advancedmp3 player and see if they'll price-match Amazon ;)

Just to add: The 30GB was retailing in Ireland for €289 only a couple of months back.

Email whatever site to make sure its actually the slim 60gb, I know a couple of weeks back most sites including amazon where selling the old bulky 60gb but using the specs of the new slim 60gb on their site. I know for definite creative.ie are selling the slim 60gb, its e341, thats where I bought mine.

I read about the Microsoft Zune recently.. that sounds nice!

But my 3 month old 30GB Creative Zen Vision:M will do me!

What's nice about a player that appends DRM to DRM-free mp3s you own? Of all the players on the market, that really should be very very bottom of the pile.

I'd also recommend avoiding the Zune.
I got my hands on one in the USA a while back and whilst it
looks nice the lack of support for most codecs would drive
me insane. Unless you want to transcode and convert all your
music and videos before watching I'd avoid.

Didn't read that much about it to be honest art.

I just read about the in-built Wi-Fi which i thought was fantastic. But yeah, the DRM stuff is a pain in the ass alright.
