    Hi,

Apologies for the thread that is slightly off topic to this forum. I am hoping to import a car for my wifes birthday (surprise). I don't think I'll get away with spending a day flying over and driving back without her guessing. I have got a couple of quotes for shipping over:

autoshipping.co.uk - From bristol (their headquarters) to Dublin Port: £364
    - From Chelmsford (where the car would be) to Dublin Port: £538.

(I have a family member living over there who is doing all the necessary checks etc.).

I am just wondering if anyone know of any other company who do similar or if anyone has any experience of this.

    Many thanks

    Wicklah

What you could also try is get the car transported over to Birkenhead/Liverpool, (as this could work out much cheaper than all the way to Ireland) and have the car put onto either the Celtic Link or Norfolk line ferry to Dublin as an unaccompanied vehicle. This is normally approx 120/130 sterling.
The car can then be picked up at Dublin docks as soon as the ship has arrived.

From a safety point of view, I would then suggest to have the original documentation and paperwork sent up to you by registered post seperate from the car.

    Hi corktina,

Many thanks for the reply, that sounds great, have you used him personally?

Does that price include all ferry costs & all that too? Does he have proper insurance for the journey back with the car. Do you know if he drives it back or sticks it on a truck etc?

    Thanks

Ask a good friend or family member to fly over and bring back the car. It's cheaper, i think :D

Wouldn't trust those thieving b*stards MUHAHAHA

Nah, no one I can get to do it, have asked. Did it myself last year with my own car, it's a long day but definitely worth it for the money you save (depending on the car of course).

Just rang John Flynn there, €400 quid now. Still cheaper than the best other quotes I got (£350 cash, £350 + VAT & £450 + VAT).

    Reckon I'll go for it
