Directions to Airsoft Locations

The question pops up every now and again about how to get to HRTA. If other sites open, I imagine the same will be asked about them.

So I've created the thread to provide directions to them.

    I'll start with HRTA.

Directions to get to HRTA using public transport.

    1. Get to Lower Abbey Street in the city centre.
    2. Get the 41 or 41c bus. There are several bus stops clustered together on the street. I've marked the approximate location of the 41/41c bus stop on the map below, but you should be able to check the bus shelters to find the correct one.

Bus Stop location at Lower Abbey Street
    41busabbeyst.JPG

Both buses leave every 15-20 mins depending on the time of day. You can check the schedules here:

    Bus 41
    http://www.dublinbus.ie/your_journey/viewer.asp?placeName=Swords&SelectedRoute=41

    Bus 41c
    http://www.dublinbus.ie/your_journey/viewer.asp?placeName=Swords&SelectedRoute=41C

You can also get the 33 bus but it only leaves you in Swords village (beside the Centra shop), doubling the walking distance to HRTA.

Journey time (bus + walk) is about 90 mins.

    3. If you take the 41 or 41c buses they will continue through Swords village and both end up about half way down the R125 (Rathbeale Road), albeit by different routes. The below map shows the location of the bus stop where you should get off the bus. The easiest way to know you are there is to look for the electricty station (it's big, ugly and very obvious...just keeping looking out the right-side windows of the bus)

    HRTA 41/41c bus stop/route
    HRTA.JPG

    4. The laneway that leads into HRTA is a bit hard to see. Just look for a house with cream coloured walls and a huge tree beside it. The laneway is directly accross from this. Keep walking to the end of the laneway until you see all the Rambo impersonators.

    Ha ! Gotcha !

You're not really psychic - if you were, you would have psychically seen that you were going to make that mistake, and corrected it before you made it.

Although...if you psychically saw that you were going to make a mistake, then corrected it, you wouldn't have psychically seen that you were going to make a mistake, in which case you would have made the mistake, and you would have psychically seen that you were going to make a mistake, so therefore you wouldn't have made the mistake, and naturally you couldn't have psychically seen that you were going to make a mistake, thereby.....

    /pause

Uhh...yeah...so how do I get to HRTA ?

Say that exact paragraph to a taxi driver. You'll probably hurt his brain so much that he'll plead with you to stop in exchange for a free trip..

I'm looking for directions for Hrta from the M4. It looks like I just go on the M50 then M1, through swords out the R125 but google earth looks like it may be out of date with the roads.

It looks like I could go around the back of the airport aswell to and try and avoid some traffic by getting off at R122 > R108 then head back into Swords. But I don't want to get lost.

Can someone tell what the best way to get there is from the M4 by car including what towns I should be looking out for on signposts? Will also need somewhere to park is there parking at HRTA?

Scumlord: id say the easiest route would be the m4/m50/m1 way, had looked at going around the back of the airport myself before, but not sure it would be worth the hassle, traffic generally isnt too bad on a saturday/sunday morning, occasionally a bit at the toll bridge or just before the lucan exit at the moment, but you'd be joining the m50 at just before the toll bridge i assume, so you'd be grand there

So I get off the M1 at swords go through the town headin out the R122, where would I be headin towards so I can keep an eye on signs?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,659 ✭✭✭CrazyRabbit

The backroads behind the airport are quicker (and more dangerous with stupid drivers going 60mph around blind corners on narrow roads). But....unless you have sat nav, or know the route, it's a difficult route since there are practically no signs and half the roads look identical to each other.

The only real point of reference is St Margarets Golf Club.

You can see the backroads more clearly here :

When you get onto the rathbeale road, keep an eye out for a petrol station on your right about a mile or so up the road, (cant remember what company it is, esso/statoil??, it's quite big though)

after this there is another set of traffic lights, with some construction works on the left side of the road at the moment, continue straight on up this road for another mile or so, you'll see a group of houses on the left on their own, then some more trees and a very large tree which over-hangs the road a little bit on the left, with a yellow house just past it, there is a right turn just before this with two yellow-ish walls on either side,
almost looks like an entrance to someone's house (it kind of is), drive straight down this little private road, to the end, you'll see a couple of big metal shed/barn thingies down the end with hrta written on the door of one.

there is no hrta sign out at the roadside at the moment, so youll have to keep an eye out for the various landmarks nearby. must post up some pics of the entrance and such...

Cheers that should get me there.

I'll have to put it off for another two weeks though, this town is like the twilight zone every time you try to leave something gets in the way.

Took a few pictures on my way to hrta to add to the directions, this covers from the esso on the rathbeale road onwards (coming from swords village), i'm sure people can manage to get that far from previous directions, so these are just so you can find the right entrance and not end up in someone's front garden.... :D

    CIMG2430%20(Large).JPG
Keep an eye out for the esso garage on your right handside

    CIMG2432%20(Large).JPG
    and also a Dunnes Stores

Traffic lights ahead (stop if they're red!)

Go straight through at the lights and follow the road on

    CIMG2438%20(Large).JPG
see the big tree on the left hand side? make a note of it ;)

    CIMG2439%20(Large).JPG
and the yellow/beige colour house just past it, look to the right now

    CIMG2440%20(Large).JPG
    yarrrrr! there be the gate!

    CIMG2441%20(Large).JPG
    drive down the lane!

try not to hit the dog!
