just looking at this card, i feel the UFC are giving us the short end of the stick. i mean there are some good fights i'm looking foward to but no fight stands out. they could surely give us a title fight. they did the same at UFC 70 with crocop and the hometown hero bisping.

i mean come on dana, give us some real action!

I have seen thi stype of post on nearly every uk/Ireland based forum regarding people complaining about the UFC cards for both Manchester and Belfast.
For fook sake, bringing the show to Europe in the first place was alays going to be a risk.....remember the last time it was in London? It was hardly a major success was it?I look at this as a building block for hopefully bigger and better things in the future. If this one is a success then maybe next time we will have a title fight,or at the very least a couple of big names on the card [ Im not saying that Franklin and Griffin are not big names in ther own right ]
In short......lets just stop with the bitchin and whining and just be thankful that we have a show of that calibre in Ireland.
By the way.....I hope that John and Andy continue to have shows of the standard of cage rage in Dublin on a regular basis......well done guys top class!

I can't see there being any major expense in flying a top level fighter to Ireland that wouldn't be incurred in flying them from Brazil to Japan or Russia to America.

Anyway, people always want more. I don't see how complaining about them complainig will help anything.

Obviously the promoters are going to hold the top of the tree fighters for the home market [ i.e the U.S shows ] and from what I see of the UFC there is certainly no problem with cash flow.I can see where people would like to see Couture or Ortiz or whoever in Ireland and Im sure this will happen at some stage.Lets be honest with ourselves here,if someone had said that the UFC was going to have a show in Belfast three years ago, would you have believed them?..........thats what I thought!
Have we got so blase about MMA shows in Ireland that when the premier event comes here we can afford to turn our noses up at the card?
we obviously must be very hard to please in this day and age!I have no doubt that if the card was filled with 'names'..there would still be complaints about something.

I'm just delighted that the UFC is finally in Ireland. I bought my tickets the first day, without any card being even half constructed. I didn't care, because I knew that I had to make up for not going to London a few years back.

Now the card isn't stellar - But one thing I do know about the UFC and MMA in general is that these seemingly terrible cards often produce some of the best fights. Looking at the names, I feel that there will be a good night of action.

Are we getting the short end of the stick with the full event? Sure, they could of always given us a worthwhile main event - but either way, I'll be there.

    wee man,

as always you are right ;)
just kidding you got it wrong once...i actually am that pretty....

This is a stepping stone to bigger and better events in Europe and Ireland
We are so lucky as of late to have had the following
    RoT's
    UFR's
    MMA League
Cage Rage - using a large amount of Iirish lads and giving Irish guys a chance to compete with international fighters and even a championship match...wow
now we have the ufc here
bad card - W.T.F are you talking about...
who complains about rich franklin...how many bad fights has he had?
lots of griffin fans here on boards....
rodger huerta - i love that guy can't wait to see that little firecracker unleash his fists of fury
tyson griffin - woooo!!!!!!!!!!!!! the ga dong a dong on that little monster is so powerful his gas could ko you....
rory singer i personally don't rate him and my guilty pleasure and self bad karma inflicting side hopes he loses not a wooping or a serious injury just a loss
We are on the beach that so far as a gentle tide flowing over our toes soon we will need surf boards to ride these ways...

    go mma...

While I agree that the card is ****ty when u compare it to other UFC cards on paper, this card has potential to give some very exciting fights.

Hector Ramirez is a brawler as is Forrest which should lead to a grade A (B!!!) slugfest. That shoulg get the fans going. Say what u like about Forrest, he gives exciting fights.

Tyson griffin is a livewire and Ive really been enjoying the lightweight fights recently. If his fight is half as good as his fight with Frankie Edgar was then we're in for a treat.

Now I dont know about u but Im pumped to see Rich Franklin vs Yushin Okami. Okami is a gamer, no doubt about it, this is a 50-50 fight if u ask me. Okami holds a win (albeit by DQ) over Anderson Silva and he bitched Mike Swick around for 3 rounds so this will be no walk in the park for Rich. Im excited about that.

My point about "on paper" is look how UFC 70 turned out. It looked potentially great with Arlovski vs Werdum which turned out to be a bore, Machidas fight was painful to watch even though his technique was to be admired. I think this card could produce some exciting fights. Except Jake Obrien, anyone who saw his fight with Heath herring knows that the best time to grab a pint and a piss is when hes in there!!

I wouldnt even do that..........the venue only sells Harp!!!!!!!!
and nothing in the world would make me drink that stuff!!!!!

I thought it was in the Stormont agreement that every northerner had to drink 10 pints of Harp per year, no?

Anyway, I can't go due to other commitments but I agree, a weak card but not piss poor, certainly not Harp piss poor anyway. I reckon theres a few corkers in the making, someone mentioned the two Griffins, Tyson and Forrest and I can see those fights being good. As for Franklin not having boring fights, I seem to remember a snoozefest against Evan Tanner, but usually his are exciting. Also, I thought Herring was responsible for the sh1te that was Herring Vs. O'Brien. O'Brien just did what he had to against an opponent that didn't look interested or prepared.

i'm not saying it's a terrible card, but i expect more and so do the
ufc fans especially with coverage they are getting in the states
(espn, sports illustrated). i mean i expected them a few PPV ago to
announce a shogun or big nog ufc debut for UFC 72 to spice things up.
i also thought they would have the tito vs rachid fight on this card.
it's great they are coming over here, hopefully we will see them in dublin by early next year. i will watch it of course like i have done with almost every UFC since about 2003 but i can see disapointing PPV buys for it.

    P.S. RICH FRANKLIN WILL LOSE!

Herring was dire BUT O Brien had position on him the whole fight and all he did with it was lie there, hes an old school lay and pray wrestler. I enjoyed Franklin vs Tanner, Tanner dropped him in the 1st and nearly had a triangle and then Franklin took over from there on, that was a good fight imo.

Tyson and Forrest will both bring it so that will be exciting.

And as for the pints of Harp, im pretty happy im drivin now!!
