Doom, Half Life are not a problem, Crysis will almost certainly play but concessions to details at 1680x1050.

An alternate option for the monitor would be this 19" widescreen for €200 which has 1440x900 resolution so you could play at the native resolution without difficulty for pretty much all games.

The RAM is just generic DDR-2 800 hard to say how much head room for overclocking is in it unless you can find a review.

480W PSU will be okay for the hardware.

If you get the smaller monitor which saves you about €77 you can then pick up an 8800GTS 320MB for €246-€77 for €179 which is not too bad at all if you can just squeeze it into your budget. I suppose it comes down to a trade off do you want a bigger monitor or more pixel pushing power/IQ options like AA.

    Thanks 8T8.

The thing is I already have a 19" lcd but really want a 22" now. So would the 320MB version of the 8800gts be able to play the high end games at 1680x1050 with good details? Im not obsessed about maxing out all the details - just dont want any 'stutter'. What about a 512MB version of the x1950pro?

The 8800GTS 320 should have no problems at that higher resolution with max details but without the savings from the display it is too far out of budget, at the lower resolution you can max out details and AA, stutter free & even enable v-sync.

You can avoid stutter with the X1950Pro at 1680x1050 and selected games easily by simply turning down the detail levels in game or don't use any AA/AF. The extra RAM doesn't really help as when you dial down the details less RAM is used by the GPU to begin with.
