    Hello all,

I have my theory test on Friday for my first provisional bike licence.

Can anyone reccommend a good online resource for studying for this?

Is it difficult? I never had to do one for my car licence.

    Thanks,

    Wavey.

It's not difficult, but I would recommend borrowing the book (or the cd).

The test was updated since I did mine but AFAIR it is basic common sense with some tricky questions in it.

I ended up learning the "stupid" questions like (when I did it) a car travelling at 30 miles per hour stops in how many metres

    Thx for the replies lads.

Is the official book/cd the same as the old Blue Rules of the Road book?

No the theroy test has its own super special book, but if you can get the CD I found it much easier to take a few practice tests on the computer than to try and memorize the entire book.

You should be able to get the book/CD at your local post office. Oh and good luck with it

Did the CD myself. Started out failing and with the commitment of a World of Warcraft player I got that up into top marks category.

I find that's the best way for me to learn. Also it's good cause when you sit the test which is computer based you don't notice much difference. All very familiar which is good to keep you calm.

I bought the book a week before the test. Read through it twice. Went for the test (on Parnell Street - touch screen computers) and it took me 10 minutes to answer all 40 questions. Didn't make a single mistake. P!ss easy in fairness... Don't stress about it but do study!

I sat in a bookshop and read the book without buying it for an hour before the test. Wouldnt recommend this approach but I passed. (Was disorganised rather than stingy)

They have updated the test recently so I think there are more questions now.

    Thx lads,

I tracked down the book in the local library.

Some of the questions seem pretty fudgy though.

Do they give a cert on the day?

Looking forward to getting on the road (after some lessons).

    Picking up the bike tommorrow.:)

Yup as soon as you finish the test you can pick up a cert. When you present it at your local tax office when applying for your provisional they should give you a "license has been applied for" cert thingy. Sort of a provisional provisional then you can tax and insure your baby.
