Slide won't stay back

Got me gun and within 20mins it stoped working normally.

The slide no longer stays back when it's out of ammo, it did at first but now even with no pellets in it you can keep pulling the trigger and the hammer at the back just keeps going.

The other problem is probably caused by the cheap bbs I have they keep getting stuck in the magazine.

Have you checked the small tab at the side of the magazine that moves up and down with the spring? It is that part that engages with the slide release and holds the slide back.

If the tab doesn't stick out at the top of the magazine when the magazine is empty, then the slide release wont be moved into position to hold the slide back.

slide probably not cycling far enough back to engage the slide lock on empty... what gas you using? what gun? any upgrades (metal slide for example)?

    Ok, duh,

The magazine has to be in it and empty to keep the slide back. It won't stay back without the cartridge.

Is the bbs getting stuck in the mag purely down to the cheap bbs or would it be possible that it's a bit tight? Should I stay away from trying to file down the mag to free up the bbs? I got another mag that I'll try at lunch when I go home just to make sure it's the bbs.

The gun is the full metal bell m92 off rsov.com. Sometimes when I fire it the slide movement is a bit half arsed. I'm using "Rothenberger map gas" it's a mixture of Methylacetylene and propadiene I got it out of the engineering depatment at work it's usually used for a blowtorch.

er......... people generally use propane for gbbs, and from what i've heard MAPP shouldnt be used

the pressure of propane is the same as green gas (since it basically is propane), i've no idea what presurre mapp is but it could be lower and this could be causing your problem

try spray a small bit of silicone oil in the mag with it empty and then feed a few bb's through it, did this with mine before and it helped

wouldnt alter anything about the gun personally, especially not filling anything down ;)

sounds to me like you need to get some different gas. I was using butane out of a cigarette refil bottle in my ksc usp and it was a bit half hearted - got some keyboard duster and its a whole lot better. Also be sure to fill the mag with the gas container upside down (so liquid gas is goin in).

Basically, I think you need some new gas, green gas for a full metal gun imo, all the probs I think stem from the gun not having enough power to cycle fully/properly, resulting in blowback and feeding problems.

    oh,
if you think its the mag causing problems, put the full mag into the gun (without gas) and pull the slide all the way back and release it. Keep doing this until the magazine is empty (each subsequent pull and release of the slide should make a bb roll out of the barrel). Dont worry bout breaking it, this is the normal operation of a gas blowback. If the mag jams doing this, yea theres a problem ;)
(Ill let someone verify this testing procedure, should be alright, right?)

Sometimes new m9 mags are a little tight at the top wher the bbs are stripped from. I wouldn't file it just put 1 or 2 hundred rounds through it.

The slide is most likely not travelling the whole way back as said above. Dunno what MAPP is but make sure theres not petroleum distillates in it.

Ya I think the gas is a problem even with an empty mag it rarely gets the slide back far enough to catch the relece thingy.

The gas stinks red rotten too, it's like fart spray.

With the mag I have to take it out and give it a bit of a shake (upside down) to get the pellets to move up. I tried a few drops of silicone oil but it didn't help much.

I'm trying to think of somewhere to get a small bottle of propain, I'll try the hardware shops around here.

I have a few cans of air duster (in a spray can) here at work but how do I get it into the gun.

yea a problem I had... had to make a lil adaptor outta one of the refil nozzles off the butane lighter refil and some bluetac :o:p

/edit oh, I just consider it a stop gap measure till I get some green gas btw, not ideal situation, me gun still doesnt cycle 100% :<

sl, you will need a propane adaptor and the small propane tanks from b&Q. i think the site is airsoft innovations for the adaptor, u can check this board, there are details about it. propane stinks also...btw

There's no B&Q out here shaft, tommy might have a few cans lieing around though.

Ya I have the adaptor for propane, so I'll want to use that since I forked out the cash for it. I'll try jaming the propane adaptor into the air duster can and see if brute force works.

Rothenberger map gas...yes, that's your problem.

Only use actual airsoft gas, propane or duster. Nothing else works.

I'm not sure if the propane adapter fits onto a duster gas bottle. I'd doubt it. Usually what people do is take a nozzle from a lighter refill can and attach that somehow.

I'll check the local hardware for propane in a few now.

I'd say I'll also have a chance of just pushing the propane adapter into the plastic nozzle on the air duter can and using that.

Balls on it any something would have to go wrong. At least the cops didn't break the pistol when they where playing with it in gatwick.

The guys at Gatwick obviously knew what they where doing, they tested the gun and put a sticker on the box to say it was safe, then everything in the box had signatures on it and test dates and such.

This stupid thing still aint working right. I got the air duster and cut a hole in the top of the sprayer so I could jam the propane adaptor into it but it wasn't air tight and I could hear gas escaping when I was filling the mag. The slide stayed back on empty once or twice but I'm assuming that the cartridge wasn't full??? Improvement over the mapp gas anyway.

The odd time gas came shooting out of the barrel and other times it would fire rapidly like it was on full auto. There just common miss fires are they?

I suppose nothing can be confirmed until I get a proper way of getting gas into the mags.

Other than that the gun is cool, and it hurts! I had to try shooting myself just to see what it's like compared to the crappy spring gun I got and it's already allot more powerful even though it's probably not at full power yet.
