im new to macs, but il make a contribution to this thread anyway
id recommend using camino, i have used so many browsers over the past few weeks on my new mac,but none compares to camino, in terms of speed, and overall performance

i also use onyx, every now and again to clear caches, and unneccessary files.

i have noticed my mac to be slow opening programmes - all programs,is ther anything i can do to reduce teh load time?

Some apps were written with older versions of OS X in mind (10.2 and earlier) and some were written with Power PC hardware in mind (Mac G3, G4, G5).

Apps that were written for your mac (which I presume is an Intel Mac, if you are new to Macs) will open and run best on it.

It's unlikely that your Mac needs any changes to open/run these apps - you just need to wait (along with the rest of us) for the apps to be re-written...

Type, that pretty much sums it up :)

Only thing other then that that can speed things up is more ram (never have enough ram) and a faster CPU...
