    hi this may be a dumb question but anyhow
    got new pc do i have to format the c drive before i start:confused:

    A PC you built yourself or one from Dell or somewhere else? If the latter then it should come with Windows installed.

    No you should be able to just switch it on and fire away. You might have to fill in your name and some registration stuff but thats about the height of it. Ya wont need to worry about formatting the hard drive for quite a while :D.

    Unless of course he got it with NO OS to save money.. Such as a custom build in which case you will need to format etc but you do all that during the XP/vista install.

    Yes of course that is true but i made an assumption that the person was a complete beginner based on what they said, and hence another assumption that they wouldnt buy a clean machine. That wouldnt strike me as beginner behaviour, in fact i would also assume that a beginner would probably not even know that you could buy a machine without an OS, and possibly not even know what an OS is...

    cheers. got tthe idiot proof one from dell with operating system inbuilt
    im trying to start a game (champ manager:D ) but its saying not not enough system memory but there':s 140gb free in c drive:(

    Em, i think in your case the lack of system memory would be RAM and not the size of your hard drive and based on the size of the hard drive it sounds strange that would wouldnt have enough RAM to play a game...
