I was reading the "Cheap & Cheerful Booze" thread and began to find myself interested in the Yanjing Beer mentioned on the thread, i'm a big fan of TsingTao and am hoping that this is somewhat similar.

However my problem lies in the fact i'm down in Waterford and to the best of my knowledge there not an O' Briens offlicence in the general vicinity.

Does anyone know of any other chains that stock this beer or even anywhere it could be purchased on-line ? I havent seen it available in any of the offlicences around here at all.

    Thanks !

Did you try World Wide Wines on the Dunmore Road?

Yeah i'm usually out there at least once a fortnight and havent seen it there, they are generally the best stockist for these kind of beers alright.

They have all the usual culprits - TsingTao, Tiger, Kirin etc. but not that one

I just rang them to double check and they dont have it - Thanks anyway RE*AC*TOR. So the search continues.

I'd say you're probably out of luck in the waterford area then.

I wouldn't bother buying beer online, as the delivery charge would be prohibitive.

Actually, looking at the O'Briens website they deliver everywhere in ireland, but don't have ynajing on their site.

"All orders of €200 or more will be delivered free of charge. All other orders will have a flat delivery charge of €10 applied."

perhaps if you call them... as its not on their site.

I may take a spin up to carlow or something, make a trip of it. Booze.ie etc. dont have it on their sites either. Thanks for the help RE*AC*TOR, ill let you know if I find it.

Its not that great a beer, passable for the price in obriens at €15 for 24. I wasnt rushing back to get more. tsingtao is better. Yanjing gets terrible online reviews! has rice in it too

Oh thats a shame, I was hoping for something similar(ish) to TsingTao taste wise.

I love the ricey aftertaste but you wouldnt be buying too many bottles of it at the going price, I think its listed at ~€45 for 24 X 330ml on most websites and around €2 - €3 in most offies.

True, Yanjing's not great. Tsing Tao is much better, so if you can't get the Yanjing, don't worry too much.

I just love the tagline it has, though: "The Beer of High Official Manifestations" :D

Yanjing is on borrowed time. Once the current batch runs out, O'Briens won't have it again.

O'Briens do indeed have a delivery service but I genuinely don't think the beer is worth the trouble!
