Thanks for the kind words Smurf and the support up there from yourself ,Martin,Vera, Chrissie and Pat Vickers from the Fitz to name but a few.

Cheers Tim and Noel, StewelPeter and all the rest of the boardsies for the appreciation.

Smurph will bear witness that I kinda lost interest a tiny bit after I settled on the deal....( Martin plyed me with Diet Coke and told me to wake up and cop on).. I did nt wake nor did I cop on but in hindsight the trophy wud deffo now have been a nice little bonus too.

It was rumoured that I slow rolled KK which I was nt happy with. I ve never slow rolled anyone in my life. The only question that was going through my head was that it as against Kevin ''LoveJoy'' O Leary who I had seen suck out very very very very luckily twice over 2 days and was thinking oh oh I ve run into AA here or I was gonna be his 3rd victim with his AK hand. He had the AK but I still feared the worst.

Kevin busted AA all in with 66 to hit Quads on the river after spiking a 6 on the flop to go behind to an Ace on the turn and yup you guessed it he hit the 6 on the river. Then he busted Bomber Nolan AA with AJo to hit his flush on the river........ So excuse me for thinking for about 10 seconds and pondering whether to go the pub or back to Dublin after the bad beat......

The bad beat never arrived so Lovejoy (nice guy actually) who praised the Irish tourny structures and liked them much more than the crap shoot UK tourny's was out and I was up to about 420K chips I think.

I was excited and delighted to play such a quality final table and had some homework done beforehand (not revealing much and on whom) and learned quite quickly on the final table about a couple of other players too.

It was hilarious to watch my wife constantly check the money list, which she had ensconsed in her pocket as the players got knocked out and the holiday she was planning was becoming more and more extravagant as the prize money increased. It went from a long weekend in Doolin in her Uncles mobile home to I think 3 weeks in the Executive suite of the local hotel in Doolin to eventually decide on a month on the west coast of the USA ( funny how the WSOP is close to the west coast yeah)

Settled down quite quickly after Bomber made a good play against me that I could nt call with too many diamonds on the board and I laid down a big hand. He showed the bluff (big mistake giving me some info)...

Got 3 handed and offered up a deal which was refused (now to my delight) and we played on. Myself,Tom and Jen played away up to the dinner break after which I took 2 massive pots from Tom to go 2:1 chip leader and knock Tom out.

With 2:1 chip lead me and Jen settled on what I believe was a nice deal for both of us and played for the extra 4K and the trophy. Jen was a quality opponent and I was enjoying her aggressive play. Heads up did nt take too long (about 45 minutes ) as we both opened up big time only for me to make a silly call on the end when I misread Jen and that was that...

Well done to all at GJP for probably the best structured tourny in Ireland,Uk and even Europe was suggested last night. Great experience.......

Good stuff Jay, glad you didn't let a pain in the neck get in your way. You are always a pleasure to play with (in the nice person sense that is).

    Well done.

well done Jay, really delighted for ya.

I thought your river bluff against badger was perfect. He created his own downfall in that hand by betting the turn! If he checks behind on the turn you must then check the river without the Q. By him betting the turn he gave you the required info re his holding.

Well done to Jen also. Now take in Cork this weekend. There is a good crew going down - should be a super weekend.

    Well done Jay,
I felt that you still had alot of interest in winning the trophy (and the xtra 4K obviously) when the deal was done, but I feel the hand that you had 9, 10 crushed your spirit a bit. It seemed like you couldn't get the hand out of your head for a good while afterwards and seemed to lose concentration hence Martin's (subtle) cope on comment while handing you a Coke.. It was so obvious that you were getting pissed off.

Well done, you played top class poker. It was actually great to see so many people I knew make the final table.

    Great result and well done.

Great result Jay and a savage final table lineup.

Gotta give my girl Jen props for m4d skillz, its been a while coming but she's too good not to hit. One of the best female players in Euro imho. (a lot better then Mercier for sure!)

    well played Jay nice result.

Also well done to Bomber yet another result for the chip magnet, probably the most improved player on the circuit this year imo, has managed to find a lower gear and still keep the chip accumulating skills.

Well done Jay, all three of you were all top quality players and guys, was good craic sitting at the table, even though so much up for grabs it was all pretty light-hearted, even when i knocked all the chips over!
    Well done,
    Joe
