Has anyone done this? would you reccomend it.

Im thinking about doing the subaru course, 450 euro for less than an hour of driving is quite expensive though. It is the cost as doing a half day trackday in mondello (in my impreza) aswell as the entry level racing course in mondello where you drive a single seater racing car. I want to do all of them though i have little money so dont want to waste it.

I did the rally school a few years ago and did both the Scooby and the MKII escorts and by far and away the escorts were more fun. It is a very tight course and it suits the RWD escorts rather than the glue like 4x4 scooby. Great day driving.

I have considered doing the Mondello day in the single seaters but I have heard very mixed reviews .. so I have saved my money and I am going to do this in a few weeks . http://www.palmersport.com/

.. you get to drive all the different cars and I believe you get about 60-70 laps done in the day.

That looks nice, the single seater car they have would be great and the track looks very good. How much is the thing that your doing cost?

it's about stg£900 for the full day

but I believe worth every penny !!

Yea i figured it would be something like that. If i had a lot more money i would. You could post a report of it after you have done it.

that is if I am alive afterwards.

I know a few people who have done it, and they have done other track days in the UK and they all agreed this was the best they came across .. alot to do with the selection of cars, different tracks and the track time that you get !!

The superlights sound like great fun ... they teach you how to fling them around the place and to get plenty of smoke from the tyres !!

I can highly recommmend Rally School Ireland. I did the Escort and Subaru day and it was fantastic. The Escorts are great fun although the power of the Subaru is very impressive!

My vote (personal experiences) goes to http://www.superdriveni.com/ - Brendan Crealeys place in Portadown. Best day's motoring I've had, top training, efficiently run. I did the Pro Rally course which runs the whole day.

you get trained by kris meeke in the rally school... friend went they put him in the rally car and turned it upside down and said get out.... ( he was getting his rally licence so they also a bit of reading and stuff) but they did get a few laps around the track after... its 350 euro and you get a rally licence out of it have a look at the motorsport ireland website

I done 3 stages in the escort and 1 stage in the impreza about 2 years ago. Was a brilliant day. Would highly recommend it. The escorts are brilliant fun but i have always loved imprezas so that was the most fun for me!

I did it last june, best birthday present ever. Did 3 laps in the mk2 and upgraded (for about €50) to get a lap in the scooby - such power!
In the escort, the instructor kept saying "more throttle, more throttle"; in the scooby it was more like "BRAKE, BRAKE"

I went to nigel mansell racing school at brands hatch about 10 years ago,it was such a complete waste of money.
Not allowed to go over 4 thousand revs in a formula first.

Did this last year - luckily didnt have to pay for it as I think it is quite expensive. I think they have upgraded some of the motors since then. I drove the Catherams, 350Z (even though I had one myself), 911, single seater formula one type cars, LeMan type cars, off road course in Nissan 4x4's. Very enjoyable - I think there may be some pics in the HWIST thread way back

I did the full day (escorts and impreza), and tbh, I wouldnt bother with the impreza. Not worth the extra cash. As someone else said, esort was go go go, impreza, brake brake brake......not good enough to get the best out of the impreza.....escorts were a great laugh though.

A lot of waiting around though, but of a pain, they kinda overbook the place imo.

I am really looking forward to the XKR.
I will get some sort of review when I get back.

Yea I did the rally course a few years ago and LOVED it! I didn’t do the impreza but the escort is so much fun. You can get it sideways so much!!! I remember coming over a hill and hit the throttle a little too much and the car snapped out sideways, I didn’t react in time and lost control.. It wasn’t scary in the least cause I knew it was a safe environment! Weird sensation, losing control of a car and you can’t do anything about it other than hit the brakes

I also did the mondello track thing and loved that aswell, actually found that better for me, i prefare circuit racing to rally. The one thing i noticed was the vibrations!!! Was fantastic, would love to do it again!!
