I'm going to Malta in a fortnight for my holidays.

Does anyone know if they accept the Euro as well as their local currency?

There are plans to have the euro in for January I think. Doesn't help you though!

    Cheers for the info.

It's just that I've seen a few websites that give you the prices in both currencies. I just needed to be sure that I have to get it changed.

I meant to post when I returned, but forgot.

A lot of the smaller shops will give you a much better exchange rate than if you were to buy the Maltese Lira here in Ireland. Almost all places accept the Euro and the £ Sterling, and issue change in the local currency. Restaurants etc also accept the Euro.

An example of the exchange rates - here: For €100 you get LM 41 approx. In Malta (local shops) for €100 you get LM 43.

Had a ball by the way, and will definitely go back.
