Hey, the clock on my work computer (a dell laptop running XP) keeps on changing it's time, 10 minutes ahead... There doesn't appear to be an option to automatically sync up the time with some online clock somewhere...

Any idea why this happens? Pissing me off, cos i think it's time for a break/lunch/etc. and it turns out that i have another 10 minutes...

Right click on the clock, choose adjust Date/Time. Click on Internet Time tab.
See whether the clock corrects/uncorrects itself when you choose "update now". This may not work at work due to a firewall blocking the NTP service.

of course if it's a computer that is part of the work domain then it should be correcting itself against the workplace domain controllers. Otherwise some nasty little issues can occur.

Unfortunately there is no Internet Time tab, just Date & Time and Time Zone... That confuddled me, my comp. at home has all that....

your computer in work will most likely sync with the domain controller.

Its a security think in active directory where if a desktop isn't time synced within 10 minutes of the main server it will not allow you access to the network. Every time you log in it will reset.

you need to get your IT team to update the time on the domain controller to be in sync with an online NTP server.

I think i'll manage, the laptop is only an interim thing until a new PC arrives at some stage this week... Thanks though...
