    Hi Y'All,

Thinking about getting a Galaxy MP5K PDW but have not really heard much about them. Read a review somewhere that the ROF is pretty low when compared to the TM MP5K. Looks like great value though. €134 total price including High Cap, Charger and Battery from Airsoft Scotland (delivery extra of course).
Anyone out there have one of these or knows someone with one? Any advice would be appreciated. If it isn't any good I might just cough up for the TM MP5K on e-Hobby instead but will have to get the other bits seperately. Thanks guys.:D

    Get...the....Marui.... :p
If you're going to pay out €134 for one you might as well keep it and save up.

Was leaning toward the Marui one alright as I am not too sure about clones. Have 2 maruis so far and have not had any issues with them.

Well, if you already have two Marui's then maybe a clone could be a good option... it just seems like quite a bit to spend on something that's a copy.

The Galaxy mp5s are one of the rental guns out in HRTA. They do that job perfectly. However, as one to own yourself. Hmmm. I'd see them as a bit meh. Would much rather put the money to a Marui,

you can get the galaxy mp5k on rsov.com for €82 shipped

granted Marui's have top-notch quality control, but personally i dont see anything wrong with buying clones, there just as good in most cases tbh

Sorry but that's completely untrue and you know it!

Some clones are good..some I'd even buy myself. But saying they're as good as Tokyo Marui or Classic army is nonsense. They're in a totally different league.

I'm not saying they can't compete in the field. They can. However, the build quality, performance and overall endurance on the parts doesn't compare.

ok, maybe not in most cases... let me try that again

....granted Marui's have top-notch quality control, but personally i dont see anything wrong with buying clones, the good ones are just as good, but the rest are not worth a damn, having used the galaxy mp5k (pdw) in hrta, i can say it is definately one of the better clones available

there are certain aegs which i would happily spend twice the price to get a top-brand (e.g. my TM p90) but if i was buying an mp5k id probably buy 2 clones instead of one TM

    (Dual-wielding ftw! :D )

    you're very anti-clone lately btw o1s1n?

hes always been, lol :p We never agree when it comes to clones

The galaxy mp5k is great and if ya already have 2 TM's then id say go 4 it, though id probably have said that had ya been looking for your first gun.

I've found lately that there is a lot of pro clone talk going on. I'm just trying to put a bit of perspective on the whole thing ;)

Quite a lot of people on here have had problems with clones. From cosmetic pieces breaking off to the things just not firing.

Example; that Scar Fiach bought and put a bit of effort into. It looked really cool. However, the thing just packed it in and stopped working. I think he's just using it as a wall hanging now. And he's not exactly afraid to take an AEG apart either.

Your own mp5 broke down didnt it?

Scopes JG Aug, a clone which had been getting stellar reviews, in some cases known as "the best clone to come out of China yet" turned out to not be so great a performer as he hoped.

I just think that yes, you can suggest clones to people. In some cases they may be a good buy.

However, The whole concept of them being "a good starter gun" because of the price is silly though. The high lemon rate coupled with less than perfect finish and not so great performance means peoples initial impression will be not a good one. It could break down after less than 1000 shots, they would be new so they wouldnt know how to fix it..resulting in a bad impression of airsoft.

If they were to instead put that money toward a TM, they'll eventually get a gun with a superb performance, finish and overall quality. Perfect for a fresh faced Newbie. Which will obviously then result in a much better impression of airsoft.

yea, my mp5 broke, but only after i started messing about with it, had i left it alone it should still be working now

i see your point about newbies getting a decent aeg for their first, but the cost needs to be taken into account there too, plus tm's dont come with battery/charger etc... (with the exception of the aep's)

so with a clone, someone new can come along and buy a clone which will come with battery/charger and normally a hi-cap mag for approx €100, now if after a few skirmishes it get's left in a cupboard because the novelty has worn off, its not too much of a loss

however if they spend €300 buying a TM/battery/charger etc... it's a little different

personally i'd recommend to people to buy a decent-enough clone that is well known to be good for their first and then go for a TM/CA for the next one, if they feel they are worth the extra money, then continue buying them, if they think the clone was better value, then buy them.

excellent, ive got pro clone answers for all the above :D

Fiach will be the first to admit that he knew the Jls scar was known for having troubles, he did check up on it but ya it was very unfortunate the problems he got.
Ive never ever had a problem with my mp5 other then i always used my shotgun instead so it never got the love :p it outperforms my mates tm m4 in a side by side comparison by quite a bit.

As for my Aug well it was the first Aeg ive ever stripped and replaced alot of parts in[was over hoping with the guarder bucking hence my frustration when i first skirmished with it]and well it does work very well as a long ranged assault rifle [used it with a reddot the last day instead of the 3 power scope]
considering a 3 power scope is designed for 150 yards in real steel it was always going be to powerful for the gun [thats my own fault for hoping]

not all clones are as good as we all know. But JG and some other companys do make fantasti ones

    Oh you meant KD's mp5?

Well, the way I would look at that is a TM can be resold and make back the majority of its costs price so there's really no loss. People are always looking to buy them. An unloved clone will forever be an unloved clone... ;)

Chances are, if someone buys a clone they're going to acquire a taste and want a better AEG very soon. Why put that money into something you're just going to want to replace anyway? Would be easier to buy the better one straight off. It's not like we're talking about €700 AEGs here. The money put into a clone is a sizable chunk out of a TM.

If then for some bizarre reason you no longer want the TM, you can just whack it up on our fancy new sales sub forum ;)

meh... up to the individual i guess and depending on how much monies they can afford at the time... ill probably keep a reasonable 50/50ish split of tm/ca vs clones in my collection as i build it up

    Clones that are worth getting:

    JG G36c
    JG AUG
    JG MP5 SD6
JG AK47 Tactical, horrible look for AK purists like me though :p
    Galaxy MP5 PDW and MP5K
    AGM M14
    CYMA 028 (AK47)
    CYMA 031 (AK74)

There's a few other good ones but these are the ones that are accepted by most as skirmish worthy ;)

Anyone heard anything about a new (second version) Galaxy MP5K?

    Linky

Apparently a new Kurz version re-engineered on the back of the PDW? Or was the PDW their first MP5K?

Fair point but I would imagine if someone was to spend 300 on a TM they would be fairly serious about it and less inclined to give up after a few games.
Where as if someone spent 100 on a clone they wouldn't mind too much if they lost intrest in the sport because it is not a huge loss.

Well, I bit the bullet and figured at only €92 delivered from RSOV that it was too good to miss. It is now merrily winging its way to me in the post. Even if it falls apart after a few turns I won't be too upset. At least I can strip the battery, charger and stock and use it on a Marui (hopefully) anyway so it won't be a dead loss. Fingers crossed.
Oisin: Generally I would complete agree with you about quality. I would go for a CA or a TM over a clone any day but figured one short foray into the "Attack of the Clones" won't break the bank. I always hold that the old "you get what you pay for" adage is true. Next one will be a TM or CA although the STAR M249 is looking mighty attractive at the moment. Supressing fire anyone? Could have the G3SG1 as a backup and then the MP5K PDW as a further backup while also having 2 pistols strapped to me in case I run out of ammo! I would probably look like the character from 'I'm Gonna Get You Sucka' who loaded up with guns only to fall over and shoot himself near the end of the film. Still have to get to a skirmish though. Hopefully when I get my car insurance sorted I will take the trip over to the North Side. Looking forward to it.
