Racing UK which is part of the setanta sports package is offering a promotion at the moment whereby if you subscribe to them before June 1st and Frankie Dettori wins the Epsom Derby on Authorised they will refund your subscription for the year. The horse is even money favourite to win the race.
The promotion is only available through racing uk and not setanta, so you must subscribe for the setanta package through racing uk to be eligible if you know what I mean:)
A nice way of saving €216

Isn't there a good chance of Frankie missing the Derby after his bad fall last week?

I can't believe the lack of interest in this thread. Where did you hear about this deal?

    British subscribers only.

I just gave them a call and she said it's available to Irish customers too. She didn't even have to check it, just sounded certain.

    Not according to this.

That must be wrong. scart also said that it's only available if you subscribe directly through Racing UK but that's not the case. Just ring up Setanta and ask them about the Dettori offer.

    Hmm looks very enticing indeed.

He should be ok but will he be riding Authorised?

Following article suggests he may not be:

I'll keep an eye on this and if he is confirmed as rider of Authorised will probably have a punt on this, have been tempted to get Setanta for a while now and given Authorised is the hot favorite this could be the time to go for it.

Ooh, tis intriguing! I see the T&C state that the offer excludes Northern Ireland.

EDIT: I've just noticed that the monthly sub in NI is £13, compared to £15 for GB. Must be more stuff blocked on NI package, which is why it's cheaper.

    I agree with Graham13!
It is only open to UK residents excluding Northern Ireland, who do not all ready have a subscription to RacingUK.

In effect Setanta have nothing to do with it. You must enter this through racinguk.tv.

According to the following article Frankie is confirmed to ride Authorised in the Derby:

    http://www.canadaeast.com/ce2/docroot/article.php?articleID=146088

So I rang up Setanta and asked the guy if this offer is available in Ireland and he assured me it was and that it was also available through them, I didn't have to go through racinguk.tv. He was absolutely certain!!

So I asked a few more questions including cost of getting Setanta on my multi-room card (which was €5 per month) at which point he indicated that he wasn't sure if this charge would be covered by the offer or not (i.e. if Frankie wins Derby I would still have to pay the €5 per month).

At this stage I said I had read the conditions of the offer on the racing.uk website and they indicated that the multiroom charge would not be covered by the offer but that it also indicated that the offer was only available in the UK and not in Ireland. So at this point he said he would double check that the offer was available in Ireland and within a couple of secs came back apologising profusely telling me his supervisor had just confirmed that the offer is NOT available in Ireland.

So my guess is they are saying that it is but if Frankie wins you will not get the refund and they will simply point to the terms and conditions that clearly say the offer is not available in Ireland, but at that stage you will have signed up for a minumum of a year.

Sometimes I think it would be alot better if I was living in the Uk ,they get so many good deals and offers .:(

Yeah apologies, this is the number I rang:
    0818 272 432

She told me the deal includes Ireland. give them a ring tomorrow. They gave me a reference number anyway so I'll kick up a fuss if they tell me now that the deal doesn't include Ireland. You know when the support are talking rubbish but this lady definitely seemed certain that it includes Ireland.

/edit - just seen webbie's post. :( I'm gonna try again tomorrow anyway.

    Folks

Are we sure this is not just a separate subscription to the racing channel? Sounds dodgy to me. I would also question the legality of it. Does Frankie have Setanta yet? If he does will he be motivated?!?!? :-)

Yeah it's only available in the UK. :(

Tell them your not happy with the service and you want it terminated immediately. I subscribed to them last year and thought the service was shocking so after 2.5 months I told them I wanted out. I had problems with them regarding payments and such(after 2 months they still hadnt set up the direct debit and were sending me payment summons).

So they told me that the contract would be ended, but if I subscribed again I would haver to pay the balance. So I ended upm getting mearly 3 months for free!!

Dont ask me how they'd be able to tell that I had subscribed before if I went back to them, I'm at a different address now!!
