The Japanese site has it as 'Lemarick/Remarick' (レマリック). Don't think there's an Irish connection.

    Any links?

No links to the movies, its a PS3 exclusive apparently.

I dont know how you get that there's no Irish connections given that the whole narrative is done with a brogue befitting of Tom Cruise..

Ok so its not Limerick exactly (actually Lemrick)..

Very funny to watch though.. very funny..

and what are you on iwincosimcool? strange boy...

While there may be some ambiguity about Limerick/Lemrick, we have an envelope which appears to be addressed to Dublin 41 seconds in.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,957 ✭✭✭✭Villain

Yea I noticed the envelope saying Dublin, strange

Then some horrible attempts at an Irish accent to add

Sounds like they got Sonata Arctica to do the song for it :p

I think the game looks decent though.

Looks interesting and strangely enough for a game set in 'lemrick' not a cream cracker with a slash hook in sight. (come on someone had to say it)

Remember kids, the underworld is a dangerous place. Especially if you're after me lucky charms! *Laughs manically and jigs away*

I never knew there was an underworld in Limerick. Isn't that gas!

Well they got that bit right about limerick anyway :D

It's definitely meant to be a village in Ireland:

Pretty funny. I think the village just acts as a gateway to the 'wonderland', so to speak.

Got me thinking about any other games supposed to be set in Ireland..I remember Gunvalkyrie had a character from Ballymun, and was set on a planet called Tir Na Nog (although they weren't remotely trying to set the game in Ireland).

I don't see any Honda Civics pumping out dance choons, fights in the middle of the street, or armed Gardai patrolling the streets....Thats not Limerick!!

    Also known as Folklore

    http://www.gamespot.com/ps3/rpg/monstercarnival/index.html

Many sites are touting it as one of the most promising games set to come out for the PS3 in the coming months. Had no idea about the Irish thing until now though.

You know I think it looks pretty good.

Although the accents are a bit on the cringey side, I always thought there would be a good game based somehow on Irish folklore. I just hope they don't overdo the jigs and the begorrahs and the shillelaghs!

edit: Although, I see it's developed by Game Republic, of Genji 2 infamy. Perhaps folklore is supposed to be action game based on "real Irish history"....with "real battles" from Irish history. And you see the results. (GIANT ENEMY CRAB!)

Yeah, not too sure how many giant flying snake dragon things with lines of glowing mystical force spewing forth are in our folklore, and as for the accents, everything was peachy until the lprechaun thingy, deary deary me, I want a Fr Ted GTA type game, I want drive Pat Mustards milk float, I want to be the couple in the shop hunting each other down, I want to see a stealth mission where you have to escape the house without Fr Stone spotting you, Hmm good stuff.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,682 ✭✭✭LookingFor

Don't think it's meant to be based on Irish folklore at all. They're just using a creepy irish village as the starting point before it goes all 'alice-in-wonderland' on you.

Not sure when it's out here? I think it's meant to come to the US in the autumn. Might import it.

A demo will be available on the JAP PSN store this Firday apparently. Might be worth a download methinks.

Shall be downloading it meself too..

Have a bad taste in my mouth after the last playstation Oirish offering of Gaelic Games (or whatever it was called).

I think an Irish FolksSoul clan is waiting to be setup..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,845 ✭✭✭2Scoops

Whatever about some those accents being OTT, some are definitely real. In fact, do my ears deceive me or is Don Wycherley (he of Ireland's most annoying voice) the guy with the glasses?

Down with this sort of thing.
