Cancelling Vodafone contract

I have a Vodafone contract that is up on the 5th of July, 2007. How do I cancel it? I've read the terms and conditions, and they say I need to give 28 days notice. However, when I call Vodafone customer care, they tell me that I should not give 28 days notice, but rather send them an email on the 5th, because otherwise it will cause problems.

If anyone has experience about how to cancel a Vodafone contract, I would appreciate your input.

Do you want to cancel it before this date? I was always under the impression that once the contract runs out, eventhough Vodafone remain your service provider you are entitled to just switch whenever you want... (i.e. you don't have to sign a new contract with them to continue to receive coverage).

I wish to keep the service until the contract is up.

I wish to keep the service until the contract is up.

After the term is up you dont enter a new contract until you get a upgrade or until you sign a contract. You can move to any network after your contract expires. You dont even need to tell them

Send then an email, fax or letter stating that you are giving your notice of termination and wish to have the service stopped on whatever date.

a 12 month fixed term contract is different to a 12-month minimum term contract, best to read the actual terms on your contract just to make sure

Be aware that if you wish to keep your number.. on the fifth simply go to an O2 or meteor shop and port...or You could always migrate to "ready to go" on that day.. (that can be done on a phone call or call to any vodafone shop)that way you keep your number but dont have a bill..
