Grange Road (the road from Coolock) goes over the railway, then enter the industrial estate and turn right and then left and you will get to FAS.

Well, the economy has gone belly up in 4 years, so wouldn't surprise me if OP is looking to retrain all over again for a new job, hence this thread's resurrection :p

Intriguing! :) I wonder did the O.P. complete the Course and get employment and manage to retain said employment in those last four years lol .....

I am just wondering if any-one has any knowledge of Fás "Contracted" Courses. Seemingly some Courses are contracted out, ie don't necessarily take place in the Default local Fás Training Centre. I'm just wondering what other kind of establishment these Courses would be held in. Like would it be in an I.T., would it be in another neighbouring Fás Training Centre or where ..... Am just trying to think of where else classes could be held, but only other place I can think of would be in a College/I.T. .....

I know some Fás Courses are linked with I.T.'s, but I'm not talking about these Courses, just some I've come across are listed as; - arranged in contracted Venue/location. Fás phone-staff don't seem to know either, as it's a case of "wait n see," but am just curious what other kind of place the Courses would be held in.

I've done two IT courses that FAS contracted out to training providers in Dublin. You won't know unless you are shortlisted for a course and attend an info session that FAS run.

Attended classes at their training center and received certification from an accreditation body in the UK. Trainer / material / facilities are the same as if you or a company were paying but FAS pays instead.

These companies, for example, provide FAS training.

Yeah they said when I rang that they won't know either like until nearer when Courses commence, basically was just curious as to where-else they could be held if not in an actual Training Centre, but I guess will find out in time.

There are lots of private training companies around, staff of a couple tell me that these days they are surviving on FAS contracts alone.

Also, FAS sometimes rent meeting rooms in services offices and the like.

Courses can be held anywhere that there are suitable facilities. For some subjects, this includes labs, kitchens, workbenches etc. For others tables, chairs and a whiteboard are all it takes.

I did a FAS childcare course last year it was out sourced to a training company called "creative training" who taught the course and the actual course was taught in a classroom in a secondary school. My advice STEER CLEAR!!!!!!

Do I have to get off at the Howth station? Is it hard to get to the centre from the station, how long would it take me to walk?

    Thanks

No, you get off at howth junction.

Howth is a completly different station and will leave you nowhere near Fas Baldoyle
