We can't install a cable point for our second TV, so I'm looking for a compatible video sender/receiver. Some models support returning the remote control signal, but none I've found support this feature for NTL. Does anyone have any recommendations?

All models do a return remote. But ALL models don't work with remote for some NTL receivers. The problem is some models of NTL box use PC type IR command. Everything else uses an IR version of what was on 35KHz to 42KHz Ultrasonic remotes. The NTL remote is not detected by the IR receiver on the the Video Receiver.

If you can try your NTL remote on some Video Senders, any compatible, the Red LED on the Video Receiver part will flash when you press NTL's buttons if it is compatible.

You may have to put up with no channel flicking. The video part will work. NTL's new boxes may not have the same problem.

If you find a separate PC or NTL compatible RF extender just for remote or similar (Pyramid brand maybe?), you can use it and the regular Video senders together.

I have the small silver NTL digital pace box set up with an AV sender
The AV Sender is branded as "Tranw" model No.TTA-27T

This works on the Pace remote control with all functions

Thanks; where did you buy this? Is it definitely spelled "Tranw"? (Did a Google with no sensible results).

The Digisender Gold model is compatible with NTL remotes, but at £100 it's a bit steep (this is more a nice-to-have purchase than a necessity).

    Hi there,

The description on the Maplin site at that link says :

"Please note: This product does NOT relay remote control signals from NTL or Telewest digital cable boxes"

Is that incorrect, at least for the Pace boxes?

    Hi
I have just checked and I did buy this in Maplins

TranwO - GigaAir Audio/ Video Sender

    http://www.tranwo.com.tw/english/02_...iment_2727.htm

It works with the small silver pace box

I have found that the R.C. would not work with the second scart output, (VCR/ DVD OUTPUT. To get around this I pluged in a 2 way un-switched scart splitter box into the first scart (T.V. Output) on the ntl box.

Then from the splitter, I pluged in the TV and AV Sender.
This works fine and leaves the second scart on the pace box free for a dvd player.

The remote control only works on the first (TV) scart on the pace box, it will not work on the second scart. The reason it wont work, I think, is because the second scart output is designed to switch off the tv siginal acting like a switched scart, when you have DVD/VCR connected.
So when you switch on your DVD the audio/ video will pass through the pace box and switch off the T.V. siginal
