    3.00pm 27th May 2007

Dylan Thomas heads to this 10.5f G1 as 4/6 fav on the back of his impressive Prix Ganay victory. The race has been won by some great horses in the past (Montjeu) but has occasionally experienced weak fields (Black Sam Bellamy won by 8L) and few contestants (Hurricane Run beat 2 others last year at odds of 1/4).

Personally though I think he can be taken on. I reckon its going to rain quite heavily between this evening and 3pm tomorrow and can see the ground being softened up. DT has run on similar ground before (at York in the International) and finished 5th against inferior horses.

I really liked the progress Youmzain made last year. After disappointing at Royal Ascot, he beat future BC Turf winner Red Rocks, ran future Arc winner Rail Link to a 1/2 length in the Prix Niel and finished off with a good victory in a German G1.

I was impressed with his debut this year, being one the few horses to come off the pace (and through traffic) in the Dubai Sheema Classic to finish 3rd on ground firmer than ideal. Some ease tomorrow will certainly help.

He's from the family of Pilsudski (who improved with age), has a great turn of foot, will definitely stay the 10.5 furlongs tomorrow and, at around 11/2, I think he's a value selection.

Youmzain simply not good enough today against two top-class opponents but Notnowcato once again beat Dylan Thomas in a great finish. Two Group 1s now for the big Stoute horse and, save a couple of blips along the way, has steadily improved throughout his career.

Many people may have missed Fallon on the runner-up but Heffernan did fine IMO.

I agree. Although the ground may not have been what you'd call "soft" I still think it wasn't ideal for Dylan Thomas. Heffernan rode a fine race.
