have a problem in that even with the new version of itunes that works with vista and microsofts latest patch I still cant burn to cd. It says error 2630 and user is not an administrator when I run the diagnostic.
Anyone got any way around it without having to go into the registry to fix it so itunes recognises me as an admin as I aint that tech savy to be able to use regedit.

Have you tried turning off UAC that might lift the restriction ?

Control Panel\User Accounts\Turn User Account Control On or Off

Is your current account a standard user or an admin user account ?

It will say in the Control Panel\User Accounts section under your avatar.

Finally right click the iTunes shortcut, select properties, on the shortcut tab click on advanced then tick the box for "Run as Administrator" & that should hopefully solve the problem.

ok current account is an administrator and I turned off UAC and can now burn. thanks for that. however I cant change the itunes shortcut to run as administrator because the boxes although there(set as standard) are shaded. I dont know how to fix that.

Weird I just checked a few shortcuts here on Vista and they box is enabled but I don't have iTunes install on this machine so I cannot verify the problem. Could be the iTunes shortcut is pointing towards something other than an .exe perhaps.

As a workaround make your shortcut open the program files\iTunes folder & find the iTunes.exe now create shortcut from that file and check the properties of it to see if you can enabled the admin mode. If it works just replace the other shortcut with your one.

ok created a new shortcut and still the same. It comes up on all the shortcuts I have. the box is ticked run in seperate memory space whatever that means. No option to tick the other box as its shaded and wont allow access.

Well it's the opposite here for me all shortcuts allow the run as admin option to be enabled.

Try turning UAC back on and see if the option comes back up as thats the only difference I can think of.
