I'm "moving" to a new computer and I'll have to transfer my folder with me. The problem is that the size of said folder is about 5GB. I'm thinking of using a memory stick and transferring them in bunches but I thought I'd post here to see if there's a better way to do this.
    Thanks.

    here's my suggestion.
join your new computer and your old computer into a workgroup.
This should take about 10 minutes between reboots etc.
Once they are in a workgroup, this will allow to browse to whatever folders and copy and paste. leave them as a workgroup for a week or so because you will always forget certain files.

Yeah, I'd either put them on a network, or...

Use WinRAR to RAR up the folder, and select "split rar files to max size <INSERTUSBKEYSIZE>". It'll compress it all for you, then make a couple of files that you can transfer onto the USB key and on to the other other computer. Rinse & Repeat until done.
Then open the first RAR file on the new computer, it'll pick up all of the other ones, and extract them to whatever location you want. Job done.

all you will need is an ethernet crossover cable (maplins, pc world, curry's etc.) long enough to go between the 2 and if you're not too sure about setting up the network yourself you can use xp's network setup wizard to create your link between them.

you'll find all the info you need here: http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/hnw_wizard_overvieww.mspx?mfr=true
