new unmoddable wiis in japan

    a new hardware revision of the wiis drive board has been released in japan
    with the 3 points on the chip which are used by all current mods removed
    making it unmod-able!!!

    looks like nintendo cracking down on mods

    Right, and exactly how many seconds do you think it'll take the guys at Wiikey et al to surmount this problem? Easy as cake I reckon, board revisions have never stopped folk in the past, just make the chip a wire install and wait for the new set if directions of where to solder them, depending on the board type.
    Modded Wiis are great, hmmm....

    Don't think so. Not this time. The actual pins have been removed from the chipset and unless they can be got at by shaving down the plastic on the chip the current generation of chips aren't much use with the new jap consoles. Still though, these consoles haven't hit our shores yet.
