Irish Rail - Huge disimprovement in services Kildare/Heuston

    After years of pain this had finally become an efficent sevice.

    But the last month or two it's been a shambles. The 06.59 from Kildare was 20mins late this morning - no apologies or explanation. This type of delay is becoming more-and-more regular.

    Also, on 4 mornings out of 6 I've been delayed by approx 5 minutes outside Heuston waiting for 'platform clearance'. What the hell is going on????

    Just as it sounds, if the platforms and tracks have trains or locos on them, it follows that you would not be able to get another train into the station.

    It's only become a noticable problem quite recently. My hunch is that IR have produced lots of PR guff about more trains, more services etc. but beyond the headlines the infastructure - particuarly around Heuston where there is limited space available - is stretched to breaking point. One late departure can have an inordinate effect on arrivals into the station...
