    Hi,

I just saw this "Freecom DVB-T Scart receiver" on iBOOD (http://www.ibood.com/site/eu/iboodSpecs.php). I was wondering if it was worth getting.

Are Freeview digital channels broadcast here at the moment?

I'm living in Drogheda, so wasn't sure if I bought it, if it would receive anything.

Its only on special for today.

Only the 4 basic channels from 3 Rock or Clarmont cairn. It's not a p[ublic service, so you could be wasting money.

If you have very big mast for Wales/Belfast/Brougher depending on exact location you might get UK Freeview. Satellite is a better bet for free UK channels.

I know of people in Drogheda with freeview from Divis, but it's very much dependent on location and the type of aerial (nearly always, a Jay-beam or Hirschmann) that's being used to pick up the freeview signal.

Check what TV reception on Ch 27, 31 and 37 in particular is like. If the first 2are fuzzy, and the third is unwatchable, then you'll need at the very least a new aerial and if you can't even get colour on the first two channels then you may forget about it.

This might be better in Terrestrial

    Thanks for that!

    Thread doesn't belong in Satellite.

    Moved to Terrestrial.

Curious - I'd be interested, too, if anyone has tried one of these "Freecom DVB-T Scart receiver" things.

Yes, yes. I know you'll only receive the RTÉ1, RTÉ2, TG4 and TV3 from the pilot unscrambled. But the extra picture quality for a cheap price could be worth it.
